The info in the app dashboard says it was installed 10 months ago, and no updates for custom apps. Its version is 0.1.0! So this was before Cloudron was offering it. I suppose that is the reason. I wonder if I should just move to the Cloudron version which is now at version Dawarich 1.12.2 - Package version 1.17.2. Thanks for pursuing this, it's helped me see that it was an older custom app.

      Hello @scooke
That explains it, glad we could find the issue.

ell, I'm back. After trying to enter in the TZ info, the app won't restart. I've removed the info from the env.sh file, and it still won't restart, and this is a recurring error message which seems unrelated:

        Aug 19 12:22:01 2026-08-19T16:22:01Z
Aug 19 12:22:01 Information for cause: Sprockets::Rails::Helper::AssetNotPrecompiledError (Asset `favicon/browserconfig.xml` was not declared to be precompiled in production.

Any idea? I should have just stuck with what was working!

          Hello @scooke
What did you put into the /app/data/env.sh file?

I entered export TIME_ZONE="America/Toronto", and when the app didn't restart I tried export TIME_ZONE=America/Toronto, but that didn't restart either, and now with that line removed, it just won't restart, nor start after being stopped..

This is another error which repeats at the front end of starting up:

            Aug 19 12:48:30 2026-08-19T16:48:30Z
Aug 19 12:48:30 ActionView::Template::Error (Asset `favicon/browserconfig.xml` was not declared to be precompiled in production.

            Aug 19 12:48:30 //= link favicon/browserconfig.xml
            Aug 19 12:48:30 2026-08-19T16:48:30Z
Aug 19 12:48:30 and restart your server)

              Hello @scooke
The error does not really look related to the timezone.
If you comment out that export line or delte it and restart the app, is the app working again?

Sorry, there must be something wrong with my writing, or I am not understanding your questions. I deleted the export line, as I explained in the previous reply. What is it about my post that makes you ask whether I deleted the line or not?

I deleted the line, as I said, and wondered if the last line needed a hard return or not, so I tried both (no new line, and a hard return) but no matter, it just doesn't start anymore. Why would editing the env.sh file have such an effect? Should I delete that env.sh file and let the app recreate it?

                  Hello @scooke
                  Sorry, I skipped the:

                  statement.

I will try to reproduce this error.

                    Hello @scooke
I was not able to reproduce this issue.
Can you try to put the app into recovery mode and starting it manually by running /app/pkg/start.sh from the web terminal?

I apologize. When things don't work, I do what I can, and then I nuke it. So I've started over, and I'm not touching the env.sh file. The new install appears to be working.
