Open FaaS would be an excellent tool for developers who like to build applications in a serverless architecture but don't want to rely on Amazon/Google/Microsoft/etc.

What are some of the benefits of this so I can assess whether I want to add something like this (and submit a merge request) when I dive into the Cloudron codebase this week?

I can't speak for everyone's use case, but it would be a step forward for hosting serverless web apps on cloudron. This is similar to my use case for my standalone DB app request. Essentially, how can I build web apps "serverless" while avoiding selling my soul to google cloud or amazon web services.

My 2 cents here : I think the correct approach to implement this into Cloudron would be to build a OpenFass app, that would use https://github.com/openfaas/faasd/ under the hood

After reading into @atrilahiji's explanation and what the benefits are. I see real world uses for this - and Cloudron could use this to market to that demographic that would normally use Google Cloud / AWS - instead using their VPSes to accomplish the same thing but at a much lower cost than the cloud services that already exist.

I second @mehdi's suggestion for: https://github.com/openfaas/faasd/ being was is used under the hood. It seems to get the point of self-hosting these "serverless" web apps.
