@jdaviescoates I see you are posting/updating many e-commerce apps. Any recommendations/quick summary so far?

@girish not really. Just out of experience (and because all these options I've been posting aren't on Cloudron yet) I'd probably reach for WordPress + WooCommerce in the first instance.

I just saw @humptydumpty'a post about Saleor and as I'd not previously heard of that figured I see what else was out there these days.

@jdaviescoates I checked out the ecommerce requests/recommenations you posted and some didn't have demos so I skipped those but the rest felt like a step down from what I can accomplish with WP/Woo and only Saleor feels like a step up. The second best option is Spree. I'm looking into what it takes to self-host either Saleor or Spree because I want to have PWA for the new site I'm working on.

Yeah, that's basically my impression too - Saleor and Spree look the most intereting, so I guess @girish those two might be the ones to look at first 🙂

And just for interest here is a quick high level comparison of those two:

Honestly, having been in ecommerce development for 20 years, I'd say most small sites would be better off using https://ko-fi.com/.

If you really want self-hosted, WP & Woo is my preferred and main experience - but it was still very dev needy.

I don't know why Odoo hasn't made it to be packaged yet but I'd be more inclined to look at that than any of the other options.

Like I say, 20 years experience on the ecommerce merry-go-round, to the point that I barely bother explaining my recommendations now, so it's just a bit of experience from an old man as to how much of a time-hole the niche options can become.
