Focalboard
-
Focalpoint is 'an open source, self-hosted alternative to Trello, Notion, and Asana.' I'm hopeful with the 'alternative to Notion' part, but haven't played around with it myself so not sure how fully featured it is. That being said, the project has lots of stars on GH and looks to be plenty active.
-
Recently featured on HN, where someone notes that Focalboard is developed by the Mattermost team which already has a published cloudron app.
-
@thetomester13 I just came here to post this but you beat me to it!
-
The HN thread is interesting: quite a few criticisms of how this app "appears to transmit your usage data without consent (just like the selfhosted Mattermost server [...])" (on by default, can be turned off in the config file), as well as how it is licensed and distributed.

Yesterday I stumbled upon this tool in a reddit post while searching for FOSS alternatives to Notion. On my research I found out that I am not alone according to this post on the Clouron forums from OP @yusf. ^^
From the first looks it appears to be a mixture of Monday, Airtable, Zenkit, Baserow and as it was also mentioned by @thetomester13 they try to tackle Notion, too. Since it is a product made by Mattermost it seems to be obvious that they try to bring concepts of commercially successful products to the FOSS world. That's what they did with Slack in the past at least. IMHO Focalboard looks quite polished on the surface. I'm really interested to get my hands on this one rather sooner than later.
A couple of days ago they merged a pull request to offer a Docker container: #76

I trink cloudron Need More Apps like these.
Any dev chance to compile these with ldap? -
@daniel-goletz Personally I think cloudron has already enough of these. There is:
- NextCloud's Cards Deck
- Wekan
- Kanboard
- Scrumblr
- Taiga (does much more and kanban as well)
- Confluence (holds Trello)
AND also - Redmine
- OpenProject
I've not deeply checked the proposed app, but quickly I cannot see what more feature this addition would bring to the offer.
Regards,
Andy -
And EspoCRM has Kanban boards available on any data object.
-
@olearycrew yeah, "project management" is kind of broad and Notion isn't really a PM app like a lot of other ones.

@micmc said in Focalboard:

....I also agree, there is a metric sh1t-tonne (tehnical term ) of project management/Kanban/task management boards available on Cloudron. (I'm going to open a thread about what I think is missing from Cloudron, instead of possibly derailing the discussion about this app here.)
I'll have a closer look at Focalboard, but from what I've seen I wouldn't not equate a kanban/task/project management tool to Notion. It is 80% note taking with 20% other stuff, including kanban board.
OK, downloaded and used it for 30 mins.
It's no-way a note-taking, info management app. It's a to-do list/task manager/kanban board with notes (about the tasks) add-on.
The only way it would be like Notion is if you were using Notion as a kanban/task manager.

@atridad You're a beast! Haha thanks for packaging this up! Will give it a whirl later today/this weekend.
-
@atridad works pretty well from what I've seen so far!
-
@thetomester13 Nice! I rushed to package it so I wouldn't be surprised if something slipped through the cracks.
