I noticed that when I am in the Nextcloud web interface, it reports that that I have 12.5Gb of files.
But the backup size is 42Gb.
There is only one other user in this instance with ~1Gb max files.
Does this indicate that the Nextcloud instance itself is a chunky ~30Gb ?
Seems large, way too large to be correct.
      What am I overlooking ?

I have another Nextcloud instance for other project.
They do not have this extra 'bloat' somewhere in the system.
I suspect that there is some kind of Nextcloud cache which is not being cleared or purged.

As this instance is managed by Cloudron, I am a little reluctant to use a command line utility to force a cache purge. Or can I do that without threatening the integrity of the instance ?

          Interesting
          I did 2 things :

          • stopped/started the instance
          • increased the allocated memory to 4Gb (was 2Gb)

Now the cloudron system info is showing the nextcloud instance as using 14Gb which is much more in line with the 12.5Gb of files which Nextcloud web view is showing.

So maybe that's solved it !

@timconsidine many nextcloud instances have deleted files which they are not aware of - https://docs.cloudron.io/apps/nextcloud/#managing-deleted-files . Could that be part of the issue?

Hi, I think I have a similar problem. I'm the only user on Nextcloud. According to the app, I have 45 GB of data uploaded to my computer and mobile phone. But in the system info in Cloudron, it shows me 74 GB occupied by Nextcloud. Has anyone had a similar problem by any chance? Thank you very much for the information.

@archos seems like what I encountered

                    1. log in to your nextcloud in browser and empty trash
                    2. consider increasing memory limit for app if low (not sure my increase was needed)

                    Then compare the stats again

In general, remember that Cloudron stats use binary units and not standard SI units.
So in all cases, your math can be a bit off because of that too.

Thank you all very much for your prompt replies. All you really had to do was delete the deleted files and increase the memory limit. 👍 👍
