@timconsidine linode was the "oldest" modern cloud provider, so I am quite nostalgic. Given that the cloud server space has wafer thin margins, I guess it's hard to compete without lots of investment. Looks like most of the server providers make money of other "services" these days like managed k8s, analytics, app deployment etc.

That said, SOGo seems actively developed, so we have to wait and see 🙂 .

@girish yes, I used to be Linode customer
And am very happy with them.
Just a bit sad (personally) to see them swallowed up.

The comedian Carlin said that if anything is important, there are a tiny number of choices available. For example, political parties or where you can bank. This is happening in other domains too, e.g. groceries come from just a handful of mega corporations, the same as cosmetics, and apparently even food (for example, I have heard a huge percentage of European food comes from the Netherlands, there are also very few suppliers of seed.)

Cloudron is important for supporting distributed infrastructure. I hope that self-hosting Cloudron at home becomes very easy.

@girish By the way, everybody, that yewtu.be link above is to an Invidious instance. There is an App Request for Invidious support on Cloudron:

                    That isn't true.

They are in the top 7 in terms of value of agricultural output, but they are no way near the top:

More than one half (57.8 %) of the total output value of the EU’s agricultural industry came from the ‘big four’ of France (EUR 82.4 billion), Italy (EUR 61.2 billion), Germany (EUR 59.2 billion) and Spain (EUR 57.1 billion). The next grouping of Member States was the Netherlands (EUR 30.6 billion), Poland (EUR 27.9 billion) and Romania (EUR 21.1 billion). Three quarters (75.5 %) of the total value of EU’s agricultural output in 2021 came from these seven Member States.

@jdaviescoates I am glad of that! I think it must have been some story relating to the Dutch farmers who are struggling with their government at the moment and having tractor demonstrations. Anyway, it is good fun to grow some food in the garden!
