    Hi,
I noticed that my Wasabi costs has increased in the recent months. Upon investigating, I noticed that I did a frequent backup of Cloudron and the retention policy was too short. Wasabi has a 90-day deletion policy that is explained here.

If you're deleting objects before they have been stored in Wasabi for 90-days then they will fall into the Timed Deleted Storage category and increase your total storage amount, which will then increase your Wasabi bill. Most customers increase their retention period to 90-days which won't reduce your total storage costs but it will allow you to use that data for 90-days since you're already paying for it.

Therefore, I wish to know how do what's the best setup for backing up Cloudron to Wasabi that anyone here uses, by keeping the costs minimal but also reliable?
I do not see any 90 days retention policy here. Any advice?

@Aizat my sympathies - I got caught by this also on some (non-Cloudron) backups.

Just wanted to say, in case you can't get your question resolved, I use Scaleway for my Cloudron backups, as they don't have this 90d restriction.

And I found a Hetzner Storage Box provides a not-too-disimilar cost compared to Wasabi, bearing in mind the flexibility it provides and no minimum storage durations.

@Aizat I guess we can add a 3 month retention option. Would that solve the issue?

@girish Yes I believe it will, Wasabi retention is 90 days anyway, so 3 months retention would work! 🙂
    Thank you so much!

@Aizat said in Wasabi Timed Deleted Storage:

@timconsidine thanks, I'll check Scaleway and Hetzner out 🙂

FYI both (aside from Hetzner US location where they're just co-locating)) are 100% powered by renewable energy too, imho an important consideration in a climate emergency 🙂

I use Cloudron with Gandi & Hetzner
