Wordpress Update Message

Hi.
Cloudron is all good and working well so far.I do have a question about a wordpress update. I keep getting this message under notifications for the last few days:
WordPress (Developer) at www.lunato.it requires manual update to version 3.0.0 4 hours ago
Changelog:
Update PHP to 8.1 - Please check compatibility of plugins after the upgrade.
But when I can check under the app it says:
App Title and Version WordPress (Developer) 6.1
App ID ----------------------------- (removed)
Package Repository core
Package Version org.wordpress.unmanaged.cloudronapp@2.17.0
Last Updated 2 days agoCan someone tell me why and is it correct??
Thanks
Matt

@mattcazz I'm not exactly sure what you are asking, but yes there is an update available for WordPress for you, bur you need to manually apply it.
The current latest Cloudron WordPress (Developer) version is 3.0.2 which is WordPress 6.1.1
Cloudron is not updating it automatically for you because the new package includes a new version of PHP, which could possibly break plugins which aren't compatible with the new version of PHP.
Personally, I just went ahead and updated without checking anything, because I knew that if everything broke I could simple revert to a previous version. In my case, nothing broke (at least not that I've noticed!)

@mattcazz Wordpress package have to be updated manually because different plugins or themes may conflict with that version.
With manually update, in case website will stop working, you can debug and understand what is the problem.
In my case, all was fine, unless some old themes that were not compatible with new package. In those cases, I had to enable DEBUG mode in wp-config.php and understand what to fix (eg. some manually editing in child themes cleaning part of code).

@robi make a clone from a backup and update the cloned site. Take a look at the live log while opening the site. It will tell you exactly where it breaks and why. For me it was because of outdated themes and old plugins and I fixed 6/8 sites so far.

Excellent insight!
