I've transferred domains in the past several times. I can't say I've ever really noticed what, if any, messages are relayed during the transfer. Well, I'm transferring to Porkbun from another registrar, and the message in the Dashboard reads: > pending transfer from losing registrar (002).

Seems a little harsh... the losing registrar? So, Porkbun has "won"?

Do your registrars have similarly worded messages, or is it more straight to the point? (I've posted the same question at LET, in case some of you browse there too.)

@scooke I think I have seen similar but like you, didn't really pay much attention to exact wording.
I guess it's fair to say the previous registrar has lost your business and Porkbun have won your business.

Just terminology, not winning and losing in the sense you think. ICANN refers to the registrar you are transferring away from as the losing registrar and the other as the gaining registrar.
