I'm guessing this is related to DNS and not really a WordPress thing, but it's a WordPress app where it's happened to me so I'm reporting it here.

    I just created a WordPress at map.bridport.coop

I wanted to throw it away and start again, so I uninstalled the app.

    Then I installed WordPress again.

But now I just get Server not found.

Same thing in plugin free install of Chrome I only ever use to check if things work there when they don't work for some reason:

If I change the location to another subdomain it works fine.

    What's going on?

@jdaviescoates sometimes DNS cache takes some time to clear in intermediate routers and computers (called NXDOMAIN). Did you try in another computer or device already?

It must've been that. I ended up just going to bed (it was already too late). Working now on the same computer.

I'm sure I've done this before without issue though.

Is there a way to flush the NXDOMAIN cache on routers/ computers?

Thinking about it now I guess I could've edit my /etc/host to tell it the website was indeed where it was.

But still seems a bit odd that it cached the "not existing" state which literally only existing for as long as it took to uninstall and reinstalled but hadn't instead cache the "existing" state during the time it was installed.

Not that I am aware of. These days browsers also do their own DNS caching complicating things even more.
