I maybe have a bit of an odd question for owncast, but is it possible to put the owncast server behind the cloudron authentication wall? Or basicauth is fine with me as well.

My streams (bug / middleware / app testing) that I do is for testing purposes and colleagues only.
Streaming it unauthenticated makes my setup illegal.

When searching over their github repo they are not bothering to be adding authentication and suggest to use basicauth via reverseproxy etc.

I found some discussions at https://github.com/owncast/owncast/issues/489 and https://github.com/owncast/owncast/discussions/649 but haven't seen a real apache/nginx config . It does seem like they miss this feature.

Can OIDC be added to the Proxy App? Or would a simple pw there be sufficient?

App Proxy does work with OIDC. But then the owncast original URI stays public.

I could give it some random long hash as subdomain but that doesn’t feel secure enough.

Just adding my vote for adding a simple option for basic auth to these apps, and especially Owncast. If anyone figures this out I’m all ears 😊
