Wanted to formally announce the Contacts and Calendar app. Our motivation to build these are because of a lack of polished self-hostable apps in the PIM space.

    Contacts app:

    • Supports multiple address books
    • Can sync with DAVx5, Thunderbird, macOS Contacts, or other CardDAV clients
    • Can import from VCF or LDIF files
    • Can export to VCF
    • Can find duplicate contacts

    Calendar app:

    • Supports multiple calendars
    • Can sync with DAVx5, Thunderbird, macOS Calendar, or other CalDAV clients.
    • Booking pages (gives a link where other people can book a meeting with you based on your available time)
    • Share calendar with other users
    • Subscribe and publish iCal calendars

Both of them integration with Cloudron OpenID.

Would be great to get some feedback and make these apps more powerful and sophisticated. Our end goal is to make them fully supported apps.

          These are great additions.

I made a suggestion here already with regards to the calendar - This would be fantastic and would allow to use a "publicly published set of calendars" in case of event and/or in various other places - More info here

            • Would these be able to import contacts / calendars from NextCloud?
            • Would Roundcube be able to be integrated with these apps so that I have contacts and calendars visible there? TBH, not sure if Roundcube can do that, but maybe you guys know.
            • What kind of security audit / tightening are you guys doing for these apps?

If in addition to these I could get a good file sharing app that provides an Android app, Linux desktop app and good security - I'd dump NextCloud the next day.

@bazinga the app can currently import and export in vcard/ical formats, so that should work fine. There is no automatic migration implemented though. For Roundcube, is far as I understand, it has no easy way to use external addressbooks. Our contacts app does export addressbooks via carddav, so thunderbird and such do work though.

@aartjansen we are not aiming for mainly to build features SOGo does not have, but mostly because the apps like roundcube and SOGo are next to impossible to fix or contribute to, if need be, so this is an ongoing risk from Cloudron perspective, as those basic use-cases are crucial for most users.

For the out-of-office, could you please elaborate a bit more on what this would involve from your perspective?
