Email is not configured properly
-
Dear Cloudron-Support,
I get a daily reminder that my email is not configured properly. We're running Cloudron on a subdomain (apps.ki-ideenwerkstatt.de) and the error occurred after I added a "top-level" domain for an app (zentrale.ki-ideenwerkstatt.de).
Here is the message:
zentrale.ki-ideenwerkstatt.de SPF DNS record (TXT) did not match. Hostname: @ Expected: v=spf1 a:my.apps.ki-ideenwerkstatt.de ~all Actual: null DKIM DNS record (TXT) did not match. Hostname: cloudron-12c335._domainkey Expected: v=DKIM1; t=s; p=MIGfMA0GCSqGSIb3DQEBAQUAA4GNADCBiQKBgQDTLjy/VYr4+JSRSEIwh5G7wLcz+mD36w2Qjo85dahpxEahbTINWieoDZoa/+GE+1EGmrIFgB5oTxH6YzqASRNoxBDKStSpjw9CHg0DCPvq7RDY82oXFNFw/txuEcDydIso8KI4vrL+0pl5pG/SM6dHdbcxtdOaBYXJhK/uAQFTxQIDAQAB Actual: null PTR DNS record (PTR) did not match. Hostname: xx.xxx.xx.xxx Expected: my.apps.ki-ideenwerkstatt.de Actual: null
Any help appreciated

I guess either wildcard or manual DNS provider is set for this domain. In such cases the DNS records have to be manually created in your nameserver.
Basically the two TXT records (spf and dkim) with the expected values and the PTR record needs to be set via your server provider (https://docs.cloudron.io/email/#ptr-record)

@girish said in Email is not configured properly:
If that domain is not used to send out email, you can just disable it as well. Email -> select domain -> Outbound -> Disable.
What about e.g. if one had a WordPress installed with the WordFence plugin installed that occasionally sends out warnings about issues it finds. Would disabling via Email -> select domain -> Outbound -> Disable stop those emails arriving too?
If not, great! I can get rid of notifications I don't need to see.
I'm hosting a WordPress site on a subdomain of a domain I don't control and I'm struggling to get the person who does control it to set-up the required email DNS records to stop me getting these email notifications too
(they have of course set-up the A record required for the site to work, but for some reason seem reluctant to do the email ones - I can only guess out of fear it might somehow interfere with their email on the domain)

Thanks a lot @girish !
We're running mattermost under the indicated domain. I have disabled the outbound, since we have an external SMTP server running - it works now!I didn't know that Cloudron overwrites configs, but well: Lessons learned
