Ffmpeg transcoding
-
Do you mean in regards to Hardware transcoding? If you see a high CPU usage during transcoding, then the work is carried out by the CPU instead of the GPU.
@fbartels I have a VPS I am using, and I can watch some shows but not others with the same file format. I want to see if there are errors in the ffmpeg log, but im too silly too find the log.
In the console I see it is exiting with code 1, so something tells me it is failing and I do not know why

@privsec this doesn't answer your question but I use Emby and I had documented this for Emby - https://docs.cloudron.io/apps/emby/#hardware-transcoding . Emby does need premier subscription for this feature though.
If someone can tell me how to do this for Jellyfin , I can put this in our docs.
FWIW, atleast for Emby, without hardware transcoding many of my 1080p movies were unwatchable on mobile and chromecast. Even now, since I have a low end GPU, I can only watch a single stream. My new server will sort this out!

Actually, I just noticed that jellyfin does not even use VAAPI in the package. Probably a bug?
Let me give https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/administration/hardware-acceleration/ a try.
