@robi Seems super beta rn but might be worth looking into testing for stability.

I didn't actually check, it's just whenever I mention anything to do with forums I like to slip in my request for LDAP for Discourse too because I'd really like that 😛

The main thing Flarum has going for it is it's a nicely designed forum with low resource requirements.

In most situations I've come across you don't actually want to have forum users managed by LDAP, or if you do, not have so many users to manage in Cloudron.

There are levels and layers, and public/private/mgmt users sometimes need separation.

We've gone off topic (my bad) @robi, but I'd like to use Discourse pretty much like Discourse for Teams.

But I'd also like to use LDAP for more public forums too.

What I want is exactly what is already achievable with Rocket.Chat, i.e. team members can login using their Cloudron credentials using LDAP, but other people can also separately simply register on Rocket.Chat too.

At present it's annoying and confusing for my users that they can use their Cloudron login for all the apps we use apart from Discourse.

1.1.1 came out a while ago

            https://discuss.flarum.org/d/29188-flarum-110-released

            https://github.com/flarum/core/releases/tag/v1.1.1

There are some very big communities using it already, see showcase section on https://flarum.org/

I'd say this is good to go!

Any @appdev up for giving it a go?

Just discovered this used at orionfeedback.org for browser.kagi.com

Got to say, both the browser and the feedback forum are very fast and nice.

@marcusquinn I bet having the forum, ticketing, and knowledgebase all under one roof would streamline things for the staff. Asking folks to email support@ and then following up on the resolution is a time waster for everyone.

@humptydumpty Perhaps. I don't know that anyone would want to go through migrating the Cloudron forum, as it works well enough, but I can see for new setups Flarum looks like a mature and considered platform, and likely will attract more Cloudron subscribers for having it.

@LoudLemur From what I've seen, I think NodeBB, Discourse, and Flarum are all brilliant for their own reasons — so we live in amazing times to have all these options.

I think it always comes down to what features are important to the Admins.

Thankfully NodeBB is still super simple, and created a thriving Cloudron community there.

Flarum I think is also amazing, very aesthetically pleasing, and I'll always have a soft-spot for php-based apps.

TBH, if I were choosing for my own use, I think it would be difficult to beat Discourse for features and maturity, but Flarum certainly has a few things the other's don't, especially some of the nice looking plugins for things like Subscriptions and Private forum areas, which I haven't seen in NodeBB.
