Just spotted this, does look like a very good solution for Windows & Linux, which is 99.9% of Servers. @timconsidine Maybe UR Backup would give us a Mac client backup solution? Given Elkar is giving rsync a helpful GUI, it might be that Macs can use it as a backup destination. Would unshackle me and many from Backblaze, which although nothing wrong with them, isn't open-source.

And Duplicati, which impressively has a Synology version (Synology being an ecosystem that I very much like for not relying on any cloud services):

ElkarBackup is a free open-source software and it's based in other open source technologies as RSnapshot, Rsync, PHP and Symfony.

Syncthing is… well sync: copying and deleting two-way. If you delete a file, it’s deleted everywhere (notwithstanding some retention option). If ransomware encrypts a file, it’s encrypted everywhere.
ElkarBackup is backup: copying one way. It helps you when files have been deleted, encrypted etc.See https://www.datto.com/blog/what-is-the-difference-between-sync-and-backup
