Hey folks, I set up 2FA via Nexloud app notification on Android yesterday. Works great except my online account connection to my VPS instance from Linux (pop!_os -- essentially, Ubuntu) won't connect now. Any idea how to fix this?

What do you mean by 'online account connection' to your VPS ? Is that some pop!_os concept ? (Do you mean SSH connection to the server or do you mean connecting to nextcloud ?)

@Ropyro In order to use non-nextcloud apps with Nextcloud (I assume you are using PopOS! file manager) you need to generate an App Password in the security settings in your account on your Nextcloud app. 🙂 Good luck!

@girish I mean that there's an easy way to connect to common services (Google services, Dropbox, nextcloud, etc through the gui. From my experience, it's referred to as Online Accounts. I first encountered it in Ubuntu, then Mint, then Pop!_OS. It's a davs connection to Nextcloud.

@Ropyro That's the feature I am talking about - but either way you need to generate an app password to use file manager or "Online Accounts" for 2fa secured Nextcloud (or owncloud) accounts.
