A friend has the actual KEMP hardware, and does like it for ease of use, but this community version does have speed and CPU limits, soo....

In the tradition of the first thing I do for anything, here's some more open links to alternatives for comparison:

    • https://alternativeto.net/software/zevenet/about/
    • https://alternativeto.net/software/pfsense/about/
    • https://alternativeto.net/software/pfsense/

And a decent read on the subject:

With the addition of a config file, Cloudron can also do this via Nginx, which it already does for it's apps, but could have a provision for other resources too, incorporated into the UI.

Who wants to do the Feature Request?

@marcusquinn Thanks for sharing. I personally don't have a dog in the fight, however I did discover kemp through networkchuck. I guess you could say I fell for the pitch. Although you are correct in the fact that the free version has limitations, I'm not sure if they would be limiting enough for a home network/homelab setting. The main purpose is to learn different technologies. Kemp's limitations are documented here.

Conversely, the article you linked seems to me a bit biased as HAProxy also has free and enterprise solutions. Granted HAProxy is open source and no limitations. I'm not sure about HAProxy, but at least from my experience, I was pretty much able to get kemp up and running from that one video.

In my initial experience with open source so far, it has been mixed. I don't mind getting my hands dirty but a lot of what I've come across is either somewhat outdated, or issues arise that no one else seems to be able to shed some light on. Sure, one might eventually learn enough to get things going if time isn't an issue.

    Just my 2 cents.

@diehardbattery Absolutely, more the merrier for apps as far as I'm concerned, even if only as a learning tool, that's still very valuable.

An alternative to using a load balancer for accessing things in multiple locations with Tailscale:

Also, cross-post to OmniEdge for similar:
