Much smaller release given the vacation time and I think we want to make more releases often. The previous one took forever!

    • Update base image for apps and addons to Ubuntu 22. This is already under way - https://forum.cloudron.io/topic/8130/docker-base-image-4-0
    • (mail) Virtual all directory in dovecot for search
    • (mail) Investigate why Spam learning/filtering sometimes does not work effectively.
    • Backup integrity - store size and checksum of backups. Also provide a way to "verify" backup integrity in the remote.
    • Backup/restore progress
    • OpenVPN/Wireguard integration
    • DoT support with client ID
    • Community repo (appstore)
    • Add optional flag for turn addon.

I'm also really looking forward to that too!

(and hoping SnappyMail - both standalone and Nextcloud app - will be able to take advantage of it)

I use Cloudron with Gandi & Hetzner

Looks great, and I'm happy to see the intention for smaller more frequent releases. I'm definitely a fan of that development cycle, much smaller releases but much more frequent as bugs can be fixed so much quicker that way.

Also looking forward to the mail improvements coming in 7.4. Hopefully more to come 😉

@girish Generally I prefer frequent, smaller releases because big releases are more likely to contain bugs.

Slow and steady progress is less exciting, but it's usually more sustainable.

The next release will also contain information about the disk I/O speed, as that turned out to be quite crucial for Cloudron to work well.

AdGuard Home got an update where it supports DoH + ClientID already. The next release will support DoT + CliendID (required for android). All you have to do is setup a wildcard alias and that's it !

We put this on hold for the moment. The current feeling is that our users want apps to be packaged and regularly maintained (by us). There is a desire to get lots of apps packaged but that won't be solved by lettting anyone publish to the app store. Last month or so , @vladimir-d has been helping us get app packages out. I think already we got 4-5 apps just last month and many more are in the pipeline.

I'm really looking forward to this feature! I've been having issues with Wasabi -- timeouts and per their support "multipart uploads with inconsistent part numbers". I will be moving away from them to a different solution, but knowing that this feature is coming will be some additional peace of mind.

We have also added a first version of an OpenID Connect provider to Cloudron. Version 7.4 will ship with this to figure out how well the various integrations in the apps work out. Hopefully this will provider a smoother single-sign-on experience in the future.

                                  eae5ff5d-d659-4f4e-9c22-b558e1e891ef-image.png

So far in the tests, Nextcloud and RocketChat worked as such, but both have their own oddities in how accounts are managed, so for existing installations there will likely be no automatic upgrade path from LDAP to OpenID Connect, but lets see.

@humptydumpty not really, no. We use Wekan internally but it's not really meant to be exposed to public. In general, we leave notes here in the forum as we have progress to share.

OK, we pushed out 7.4.0 as unstable today. Please report any early issues here. You will also find updates to weblate, peertube once updated to 7.4.0.

As a heads up, this is quite a big update since it upgrades all the databases. Always have remote backups!

Not all features are done yet, they will be part of 7.4.1. Just wanted to get the db updates out early.

@girish Good for you! Usually, but not always, "slow and steady wins the race." In other words, I like to see small, frequent releases; I abhor huge, infrequent releases. I am not alone in this. See, for example, The Art of Shipping Early and Often.
