@andreasdueren well, we have this: https://github.com/anyproto/any-sync-dockercompose
And here are the docs on how to do it: https://doc.anytype.io/anytype-docs/data-and-security/self-hosting/self-hosted / https://tech.anytype.io/how-to/self-hosting
So basically docker is already available, which would make it quite easy to get it to cloudron, as far my understanding goes.

I just learned about https://github.com/grishy/any-sync-bundle/ it is a repackaged server to make self hosting the sync server easier.

This example lists the environment variables that it needs to have set for external redis and mongodb:

It would be amazing to have AnyType on Cloudron! 🤞

@ultraviolet This is the app, or just a sync service? I'm not familiar with the software apart from reading the name everywhere.

@scooke I believe just a private sync service / relay, for if you don't trust theirs.

I have not tried the custom app, but the components in it are "only" the sync backend. Anytype does not provide a webclient unfortunately and everything goes through the desktop or mobile apps. How to use a self hosted backend is explained https://doc.anytype.io/anytype/data/sync-and-backup/self-host

@ultraviolet is there a particular reason why you went with the anytype components directly instead of the more leightweight https://github.com/grishy/any-sync-bundle/ ?

Correct this is the backend only sync services. To be honest @fbartels I never knew that existed I just looked at the anytype components and ported it from their docker file. Using the cloudron connectors too i.e minio and reddis with just a mention in the manifest file. Are their pros for the all in one? I can create a version with that too but I thought a community app might be faster. Happy for feedback

From my understanding the sync bundle is less moving parts and can work without the s3 bucket. But I haven’t looked to close into your repo yet, so I cannot say how you have solved this part.

I’m a long time Anytype user. But I have a subscription with them, so I am not an immediate candidate for a migration.
