RE: Email via Amazon SES - which domain to verfy?
Ok, doing SendGrid now. Stuck at SMPT.
Not sure about what you say in SMPT settings:
"Cloudron richtet einen SPF-Eintrag nicht automatisch ein."Then on the link given by you, SendGrid says:
"When you complete Domain Authentication, automated security is enabled by default. Automated security handles your SPF and DKIM records for you."I have done automatic domain authentication and it is verified. Then I entered the SendGrid API in Cloudron. However, SendGrid cannot verify my SMTP credentials:
"Hmm, we haven't seen your email yet."Should I give it time?

RE: Email via Amazon SES - which domain to verfy?
@nebulon And, I don't have to use SES. I'll look into Postmark or Sendgrid

@nebulon You are very welcome to go onto all and any server!

RE: Mailserver does not deliver to certain email addresses
I end this thread because I now have a more specific one going.
-
RE: Email via Amazon SES - which domain to verfy?
In SES, my domian is verified but not my DKIM because your docs say that I should not do that.
Result is 100% of the mails I send bounce.
My main aim - or my fist stumbling block - is that I want to use a mailing list. So any of 10 users should send via a mailing list, sending from their private mail.

RE: Email via Amazon SES - which domain to verfy?
If I understand you correctly, this is the answer: I followed your docs:
https://docs.cloudron.io/email/#amazon-sesand SES docs:
https://docs.aws.amazon.com/ses/latest/DeveloperGuide/verify-domain-procedure.html -
RE: Email via Amazon SES - which domain to verfy?
I am totally lost. I have tried for 6 weeks now setting up SES, but it never works. Yes, the first 4 weeks it was my mistake.
I really appreciate your help but I do not know what I could do. I see two options, either cancel Cloudron, or use another email service.

@humptydumpty thank you very much.
Here my result and their system reply:

RE: Email via Amazon SES - which domain to verfy?
Thank you @nebulon for your exceedingly quick reply!
I did as explained and in SES my root domain is shown as verified. But still get bounces, so I must have done something wrong.
I assume it is either the MX record on the wrong mail from domain.
Or what about DKIM? The docs seem to say that I do not have to configure them, so in SES those are shown as not-verified - is that correct?

Email via Amazon SES - which domain to verfy?
As per this:
https://docs.cloudron.io/email/#amazon-sesWhich domain or domains should I verify with SES and which email address/addresses?
Only my.example.com? Or every-app.example.com? Or mailserver.example.com?
Only admin@example.com and newsletter@example.com? Surely not each and every email address individually!?
Thank you

RE: Mailserver does not deliver to certain email addresses
Turns out that my IP is spam. Taking it up with DigitalOcean.
Thank you all!

@moonmeister Thank you. And what did you do? Change IP?

Discourse: Changing root email address - on imported Discourse
I have imported an old/existing Discourse from another server and now want to change the root email address following this: https://docs.cloudron.io/apps/discourse/
I have change the "find_by_username" to actual admin user name of my install (not "root") > and in CLI that user seems to be found.
But, which email address should I now enter and the new email? The doc says:
irb(main):002:0> u.email = "YOUR_NEW_EMAIL_ADDRESS"
Should this be a specific one? The one from Cloudron-Discourse-email-settings? The Cloudron root/admin email address?
Thank you.

Mailserver does not deliver to certain email addresses
Using the built in SMTP, I have set up a mailing list with 10 external email addresses. All but two do receive the mails.
Of the two that do not, one is on @t-online and one is on @hotmail.com/@outlook.com. And both are the only ones on those two services.
Both do not get the mails at all, they are not in spam.
What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to trace the mails?

RE: Email into apps - DNS/MX/CNAME/TXT
@girish said in Email into apps - DNS/MX/CNAME/TXT:
You have to setup the CNAME/TXT for the root domain and not for my.example.com. You don't have to set it up for each app individually
Thank you. That was my main issue.
-
Email into apps - DNS/MX/CNAME/TXT
I have trouble to get SendinBlue working - for any app.
I probably am confused what to set where. Is there a doc about this?
I guess my main question is, do I set CNAME/TXT records for the main/root domain, or for my.example.com, or for all the apps that need it individually?
Thank you

RE: Moving to Cloudron. How best? (WP>Ghost/Mail/Discourse/etc)
@msbt
I tried a simple restore of my backup from my instance at DiscourseHosting and it worked flawlessly.
The versions the same. -
What is the logic for emails in Discourse notifications on Cloudron?
I think I got it with changing the root email.
But I am unsure how to configure the Discourse notification mail addresses.
I am getting error:
550 Authenticated user connect.app@root-domain.de cannot send mail as discourseadmin+verp-9cf967b0413a4792c2e2aec8cdbb7805@rootdomain.de
There are quite a few settings under: /admin/site_settings/category/email
Is there a guide what to set how? -
RE: Moving to Cloudron. How best? (WP>Ghost/Mail/Discourse/etc)
I was able start fairly fresh. Cleaned WP and exported > imported to Ghost. Website is sorted.
Discourse I haven't tried yet. Thank you for your suggestions on that.
Mails are also fine. So, now I am setting up Etherpad and all the other goodies.

Is there way to translate Surfer?
SFTP doe not seem to have access to any configuration files,. -
Root domain as blog domain?
Is it possible to have my Ghost blog on the root domain and not (also) on a sub domain?
I did try to set an empty redirect in the Ghost settings but that seems not to be the solution. My DNS is on DigitalOcean.

RE: No SFTP to Ghost :-(
Thank you all ever so much for your effort.
I was able to achieve all I need the way you suggested.

Moving to Cloudron. How best? (WP>Ghost/Mail/Discourse/etc)
Cloudron is a good set of apps for our use. We currently host a WP site someplace else together with emails. And Discourse some third place on yet another different domain.
How should I move? How can I do this as clean as possible?
Given that I need to import the WP and the Discourse content into the new Ghost / Discourse on Cloudron. So, I do not want to redirect those domains only after migration is done.
For now, I have set up Cloudron on DigiOcean with a rubbish/temp domain.
I am not worried about losing mails, so mail is the least of my concerns.
WP and Discourse are important. And Discourse would move from its own top level domain, new to a subdomain of my main WP domain.
Thank you

No SFTP to Ghost :-(
It took me a long, long time to understand that no SFTP for Ghost is intentional, and that it wasn't a missing "sftp://" or "222" etc,
I do get your thinking here. However, isn't the whole point of Ghost blogging that we can do it CLI? At least, that is what I have come here for.
So, my issue now is: Do you intend to make SFTP available for Ghost any time soon? If not, sadly I'd have to leave. Even though I do not really want to, because auf all the other services that I find useful.
