    • Title: Docs on Cloudron - Alternative to Notion / Outline with OIDC, GDPR compliant PDF Export (with template)

    • Main Page: https://docs.numerique.gouv.fr/
    • Git: https://github.com/suitenumerique/docs
    • Licence: MIT License
    • Docker: Yes https://github.com/suitenumerique/docs/blob/main/docs/installation.md
    • Demo: https://impress-preprod.beta.numerique.gouv.fr/

    • Summary: A collaborative note taking, wiki and documentation platform that scales. Built with Django and React. Opensource alternative to Notion or Outline.

    • Notes: While I like Outline (already available on Cloudron) I am fighting with some design/product choices: Privacy questionable ones (deactivating user tracking aka "Insights") and/or some paid for features (PDF Export, Guests).
This present app fills the gap perfectly, with the added benefit of:
      • Matching Cloudron base image / platform (OIDC, PostgreSQL, Redis, S3 etc..)
      • Being already established, with regular releases and a solid backing (German / French government)
      • Support European-based open source self-hosting initiative

    • Alternative to / Libhunt link: e.g. https://selfhosted.libhunt.com/umap-alternatives

OK hear me out... I know we've had many notion/Outline alternative app requests over the years, but rarely have I seen one that match so closely Cloudron's infra capabilities and aim (or so is my interpretation - Maybe I am in the wrong though).

So I thank in advance, any and every app request upvote and most importantly package builder who might want to take this on.

This would alleviate the biggest regular issues I am running into with users / potential users of this types of product.

    • Title: Guidefox on Cloudron - Open source user onboarding

    • Main Page: https://guidefox.io/
    • Git: https://github.com/bluewave-labs/guidefox
    • Licence: AGPL-3.0 license
    • Docker: Yes
    • Demo: not available at the present time

    • Summary: Guidefox is an open-source user onboarding tool that gives you complete control over your user experience. No vendor lock-in, full customization, and a thriving community to help you succeed.

    • Notes: a bit early to add on the wishlist since the product seems to be in early stage, but I think this feels a gap in the open source self hosting world. Hopefully this might generate interest here and upstream.

This is a positive review of Cloudron, presenting the advantage of the Cloudron platform and easily convincing the couple of attendees.

It does not go very much in depth technically, but gives example of using popular apps on Cloudron and why Cloudron makes them stand apart from other paas solutions (1 click install, integrated backup, users sync etc..).

All in all, it's a positive review by someone having only good things to say.

I'll add that a potential early packaging would/could shed some positive light on Cloudron, since data sovereignty is bound to become an even more important topic with regards to the current geopolotical context and sensitivities, and that the product is very new (original public release 02/2025).
That is solong as this does not go against Cloudron's team internal imperatives/plan...

  • Branding - Name in 2FA application
    N Neiluj

    Hi,

At the moment, when setting 2FA from a cloudron server into most 3rd party 2FA/MFA application, the name of the token is automatically generated from:

(lack of) Logo Icon + "Cloudron" + address of the cloudron server + (username)

    51bcc79d-d89a-455b-900a-da4f3cbc7fa2-image.png

    Could:

    • the MFA/2FA app icon be the "Logo" icon from the Cloudron Branding page
    • the "Cloudron" part be replaced with the Branding "Cloudron Name" from the Cloudron Branding page

    188f6f96-3518-41de-ad1a-a03fd96270ec-image.png

This would avoid a fair amount of confusion / frustration with some end users.

    Many thanks for the consideration.

    Hi all,
I am wondering if we are far away from an addition of mailpiler to the Cloudron app repository. It would be of great help in a couple of the situation I am facing atm.
@vladimir-d Maybe you have had the chance to commit the working app version to Clourdon's GitLab already

If I can help (within the remit of my abilities) or contribute in making this happen, I would be happy to do so.

  • Web dev - How would you go at it today?
    N Neiluj

    Hi all,

A short off topic question, humbly pooling community wisdom:

    • Let's say you have an app idea (nothing too complicated but also not a static website), and while you can mostly read an interpret code, web dev is not your current daily occupation.
You start with a "blank canva" (albeit the idea is pretty well defined - and you know it fits a need, albeit somewhat niche) and have no attach to one or another tech stack.

    • Naturally, you want to start simple before adding more relevant features (so the potential to further develop and add on the existing is important)

    • Ideally, you would want to have a first version in the next 8-10 months and while your time cannot be 100% dedicated to this, you are ready to devote a fair amount of resources to this project (whether it is time or money). You are willing to fail but do not hope or expect to. Succeeding means your app will be used, nothing more, nothing less. But it also means it would open the door to other projects.

    • Ultimately, you imagine a PWA or web app with mobile apps, with auth integration (OIDC, LDAP etc..) and easy to update, maintain and deploy (did I hear Cloudron app?).
You are not interested in being at the forefront of the tech trends (AI, AR/VR etc.. ) at this stage, yet you wouldn't close the door on possibilities.

    **

Question: Which way would you go to make this happen, in today's world?

Would it be to go at it alone, learn from books, training, people etc.. and make this happen?
Would it be to go the AI way and see how far this leads, while learning?
Or find a someone (contractor dev or "co founder" or else) with whom you convince to share your idea and hope to be able to rely on a long cooperation?
    Something else?

What's is your best advice/experience with this?

    **

There is such a compelling community of Cloudronians that I though it would be interesting to ask.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

    try this FORCE_SSL=1 (without spaces)

  • Umami update fails
    N Neiluj

    @darkben Hi Ben,

I beleive this to be related to https://forum.cloudron.io/topic/7489/umami-update-1-37-0-package-version-1-6-0-won-t-start-errors-in-logs

My understanding is that the upstream Umami developer(s) made some breaking changes in their previous release, leading to an automatic update not being possible. Please see the forum post for more details.

@girish published this breaking changes under app package 2.0 in Cloudron so that no automatic update would take place and thus avoid inoperable application without notice.
    But the underlying situation remains.
    See here: https://forum.cloudron.io/post/52142

    Couple of "solutions" / workaround:

    • uninstall current app and re-install fresh from cloudron app store -> this will lead to previous Umami data / configs / stats being lost and require a new configuration from all sites.
    • install a second umami app package on cloudron, using a different subdomain/app name and run with the two package side by side -> this still requires a new configuration / migration of your sites to the new umami endpoint. However you can keep the stats in the old package (provided that you can revert the changes due to the update attempt).

Neither are ideal, but it least it gets you running again.

    Hopefully this helps further.

Hi - Thanks @ChristopherMag for the suggestion.
It seems as all importers have been gathered under the Firefly Data Importer app aka FIDI It think it would make sense to rename the topic accordingly as I was unable to find it upon an initial search in the whislist.

With the continuous Firefly development, I am of the view that this would also be very much of benefit to the Firefly on Cloudron package.

we have introduced a new environment variable (just last week) in next release - https://git.cloudron.io/cloudron/box/-/commit/daa8a60da282fc3c8bbccd4b2b1a4920c2b06812 . After the release, we have to adjust the apps to use the text in the environment variable. And then, Branding view will set that variable.

So it seems, it is coming.

  • Documize - alternative to Confluence
    N Neiluj

    @LoudLemur
Not too sure about the naming here but here is my take:

    • Documize Zerabase seems to be the commercial (closed source ?) option.
    • Documize Community seems to be the self hosted/open source option.

Documize Zerabase aims indeed to be "is the all-in-one product delivery and insight discovery platform that provides product teams with a place to think, share and execute."

Documize Community aims instead to be "the enterprise-ready wiki and knowledge-base software. Simple, elegant, usable by both technical and non-technical people alike."

Personally, I am far more attracted by Documize Community at this stage than the Zerabase option which aims to encompass more than what would be useful for my use cases.

Hence, when I look at this, I do not think that comparing Documize Community to Zerabase/Odoo is entirely relevant, since not the same product.
But I am well aware that this is a personal view, that I might be wrong or that others Cloudronites (??) (Cloudronians ??) here might have a different take on this.

All I know: Documize Community (on paper at least) scratch the exact itch that I have in multiple use cases / scenarii, that other knowledge base / wiki products do not, or not entirely.

I have, as a plan, to try to give this a go outside of Cloudron for now, to see if indeed this delivers on what it advertises, but at last, I have not reach that stage in my to-do list.
Maybe others have and can comment?

All I know for sure, is that the convenience of having this packaged on Cloudron would be undeniable - for all that Cloudron brings and more...
