    Hi everyone,

inspired by the messaging on https://s42.cloud/ I was playing around yesterday evening. It started with step-ca to verify ssh logins but then evolved into a sort of domain controller for linux systems (with thanks to systemd to https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/latest/systemd-userdbd.service.html).

As bit more detailed pitch and current functionality is documented at https://git.9wd.eu/apps/cloudron-access/src/branch/main/PITCH.md

What do other Cloudron users think? Next to having single sign on for web applications what do you use to manage your servers and who should be able to login? Do you see a value in making something like this more standardised and easier to use?

Source is at https://git.9wd.eu/apps/cloudron-access. It can be installed as a community app with https://git.9wd.eu/apps/cloudron-access/raw/branch/release/CloudronVersions.json

I don't have an immediate need for anything like this myself but it sounds useful. Made me think of the requirement for listing Mastodon servers on the official directory https://joinmastodon.org/servers , one of which is that at least 3 people have access to the server (actually, I've either mis-remembered, or it's changed, seems it's just at least one other person as per https://joinmastodon.org/covenant ). This could be one easy way to facilitate that.

I use Cloudron with Gandi & Hetzner

@fbartels What's S42? Sounds like another version of Cloudron by the same team.

@robi that link was posted here somewhere a while ago, not sure if the team really acknowledged it. The website also seems still a work in progress, but includes the cubby, calendar, email apps that have been released.

@fbartels Oh I see, I think it's their attempt on positioning Cubby as a replacement for NextCloud.

@fbartels @robi S42 is a thought in progress, not a real product (yet) 🙂 Given that we are writing some of these apps already (as @nebulon mentioned here), we are ruminating if we should make a separate office/workspace product for the self-hosted space.
