Hi there, any input is welcome.
I have a server here that hosts Cloudron with these specs.. 1 vCPU, 1024 MB RAM, 32 GB NVMe, 1.00 TB Transfer.
Currently, we are using this only for a test run of Cloudron.
Now we got like 8 apps running, 2 users only. But since we install the 3rd app the server keeps running out of memory.. like 3 days ago.. /mysql was out of memory again.

What are the stable specs of the server do I need actually.. or is there any setting I miss on my server. I would love to be able to run all the apps of Cloudron with a 100 users minimum.

    Thanks

@arnoldsigik this very much depends on the apps you install, how many and the usage pattern as such.

Overall 1Gb of main memory is very little for a couple of apps already. To give you an idea, apps like Ghost may work well with 256Mb of memory, while others like GitLab or Weblate alone require about 4Gb of memory itself. So it very much depends on which apps you want to run.

@arnoldsigik Might I recommend getting a plan from Kimsufi (not a referral or sponsored link!).

They offer cheap bare-metal servers (as in not shared resources like a VPS) Starting at $10/month

My server, $30/month, has 2TB drive, 32GB RAM, 100Mb/s bandwidth with unlimited transfer.

See screenshot below for 2 recommended plans:

Other affordable options are from Contabo, Hetzner and SSD Nodes.. there is another thread on these experiences.

Just search for the names from the upper right search function.

Just adding to @murgero's comment about OVH's Kimsufi servers... depending on the types of applications being run on the server I'd recommend to @arnoldsigik to use the ones with SSDs. Unfortunately they're a bit harder to come by as more people want those ones. Databases in particular have huge performance gains when run on SSDs compared to regular HDDs. The nice thing is you get way more storage space though for the same price with regular HDDs.

@arnoldsigik Depending on your needs (and your home internet), you could go the route of building your own server.

I guess it also depends on whether or not you want something that "just works" or if you want to get your hands dirty a bit. Let me know if you have any questions about this I can come up with some part lists (if anything is in stock with the silicon shortages...).

For reference, my internet connection is 300Mb/s down and 125 Mb/s up. Not ideal for this but it works for now. I am looking into symmetrical gigabit fiber though which should help.

Thanks a lot guys, really appreciated for the input. Actually I am using vultr.com now, just made the upgrade of my server with it.
