8G Firewall - Wordpress - Can we use this for the Cloudron Wordpress?
-
Hello fellow Cloudroners,
I came across this 8G firewall based on ng-firewall, [from the site]: a carefully crafted set of security rules for Apache and Nginx servers. nG may be applied via your siteโs public root .htaccess file, or added via server configuration file. Once added, 8G provides powerful server-level protection against a wide range of malicious requests, bad bots, automated attacks, spam, and many other types of threats and nonsense. Itโs a lightweight yet super strong firewall that improves site security and peace of mind. Can this be added to the LAMP and Wordpress apps on Cloudron?
Tagging @girish too.
Thank you.

I downloaded it and took a quick look. It has many htaccess rules. In theory, you can just update the existing htacess file in /app/data/public/.htaccess and it should work.
Note: I have no idea about the htaccess rules Don't know if they are malicious or functional either. I am just explaining how to make it work with Cloudron.

I use the 7G version already for a year on all the Wordpress and LAMP websites and it just seems to work, no issue found. Yesterday I discovered also the new version 8G and planning to test/use it soon.

would you provide us with an example htaccess that we can use to increase the security of the installations?
Well, this is what this thread is all about.
Simply, copy and paste in your .htaccess file, the code from the file here, save the file and restart Apache. Done.
