Plex Media Server

@girish I believe there’s no local auth, though you can allow no-auth access for local network clients… https://support.plex.tv/articles/?s=Authentication&search=support_articles

@privsec you suggested the same thing a year ago
https://forum.cloudron.io/post/49425
And no, it‘s not an alternative:
@necrevistonnezr Well I suppose as you say it was a year ago, maybe Jellyfin has got some way and improved what it was capable of?
Plex s very slick for sure, yet not Free Software and not as private.

I created a post in the Plex forum.
Maybe the Plex staff will create a Cloudron App.

This model supports DLNA. I am building a cloudron plex app now, but in the meantime, try a DLNA server.

@murgero Hi !
I apologize for contacting you 5 years later but I wanted to know if your Plex application project would succeed?I installed Plex via Ubuntu, alongside Cloudron. It's perfect on a local network, but impossible to access it from the external internet network.
Is help possible?

You cannot do this. It's not supported by Cloudron. Sadly my plex project has been dead for years
I'd recommend installing plex on another device or vps and using that for plex for now.

I just run plex server on my windows gaming PC, its accessible anywhere. And the gaming GPU makes transcoding a breeze. The storage is on a NAS with mapped drives. cloudron is on the same home network, but doesn't need to interact with it at all.

I dumped plex for jellyfin, considering the strange decision plex has made lately regarding sharing viewing history with other users, and other seemingly common issues I had (watched / unwatched data just resetting randomly)... Jellyfin (so far) is a better experience.
