openHAB Cloud is a companion cloud service and backend for the openHAB open-source home automation software.

The openHAB Cloud backend provides secure remote access and enables openHAB users to remotely monitor, control and steer their homes through the internet, collect device statistics of their openHABs, receive notifications on their mobile devices or collect and visualize data etc.

The main core features of openHAB Cloud are a user-management frontend, secure remote access, remote proxy-access, device registry & management, messaging services and data management & persistence.

The openHAB Cloud also serves as core backend integration point for cloud-based features (e.g. IFTTT) and provides an OAuth2 application enablement.

@nebulon Are there any plans to provide openHAB? Seems to be dockerized 🙂

I work a lot with openHAB and we (my company and me - GzEvD mbH. openHAB foundation) are also foundation members of openHAB.

openHAB in Cloudron makes only sense if the server is located in your local network, which is not the normal use-case for Cloudron in my opinion. Edit: This is very well a use-case after remembering all the questions about cloudron on pi etc.

Unless... oh no this might work.. using the Cloudron VPN as VPN into your local net so the Cloudron openHAB Client can access your local net. (Please don't...)
Argg if this works even the openHAB Client would make sense in Cloudron.

The openHAB Cloud app I can support.
    The openHAB Client as well.

Das klingt doch gar nicht so aussichtslos 🙂
That does not sound such hopeless 🙂

After having some devices which can work in a home automation way, I started to look into openhab over the weekend.

I took some inspiration from @vladimir-d 's initial package and got the app in a mostly working state now at https://git.cloudron.io/cloudron/openhab-app

Do we have any openhab users here, who could maybe raise their requirements so we can see how to get those into the package?
