    I think you mean https://github.com/Euro-Office/

Seems like there is little info on office.eu where they are coming from, but judging from the screenshots that one is collabora office in a nextcloud without branding

@nebulon Now that Euro-Office has been released is there, any plan to integrate Euro-Office as part of the official Cloudron apps in the same way as Collabora or ONLYOFFICE?

@AartJansen it's an EU fork of OnlyOffice (which is Russian)

Yes. technically (and the Latvian company appears to be ultimately owned in Singapore). But as I understand it, it originated in Russia and is still overwhelmingly developed by Russian developers working with Russian time zones and commenting in Russian.

@giofonseca yes we will also provide that eventually, currently both are really the same thing so there is no rush. Lets wait a bit for the dust to settle and see the direction of the euro office. But it very much seems like the way forward if those other contributing organisations stay behind it.

While interesting, as long as they don't use ODFs as default this all EU claim is misleading. "Our dev is EU based but we default to and lock people into a US and proprietary file format" 😆

"and we're still merging new code from the Russians devs since we forked too"

But still overall feels like a potentially positive step forward, especially if all those orgs actually actively contribute...

If the use of Microsofts XML format increases compatibility and thus increases the adoption rate of an alternative office suite, I‘d consider the whole outcry over ODF rather academic…

Any News on that? I‘d really would like to use Euro Office in my Nextcloud as Collabora really has some conpatibility issues from time to time which i did Not have with OnlyOffice - which I do not want to use anymore. …

no progress done on that front, but also we havent' really focused on that. So far there mostly seem to be development coming in for deployment and project structure, not really any fixes for new features compared to the underlying onlyoffice base https://github.com/Euro-Office/DocumentServer/releases
