Miro alternative?

As I've maybe mentioned before I'm a UX designer and user researcher. I'm a big user of Miro, especially now with the Covid-19s - work I'd be doing with clients standing in front of a wall with sticky notes and pieces of paper I now have t0 do remotely. (mainly planning research/workshops/heavily collaborative work).
Last year I spent some time looking for alternatives to Miro (mainly Whimsical, and Mural) but didn't find any actually useful and usable alternatives.
Is anyone aware of a self-hostable, open source alternative?
Thanks!

Adding some convenience links for the post
- https://miro.com/
- https://www.getapp.com/collaboration-software/a/realtimeboard/alternatives/?pricingcategories_slug[]=open-source
- https://www.guidingtech.com/microsoft-whiteboard-alternatives/
Interesting App - can't spot any obvious alternative though unless one of the Video Conferencing / Screensharing apps has something similar included as a feature.

I haven't used miro, but is https://github.com/lovasoa/whitebophir anywhere close?

It is an infinitely zoomable canvas and web whiteboard, but also:
- allows collaborative editing, commenting, viewing
- sharing of boards
- presenting of boards
- provide video, chat (which are terrible, so scratch those!)
- provides a whole series of templates people can use (these are excellent, and - obviously weren't there at the beginning
- allows exporing/importing of boards
- presentation mode
- integrations with lots of tools (in and out)
I've used Framasoft's FramaBoard in the past for these types of activities but I'm afraid it's not as powerful.

Maybe interesting related app being made public from wordpress.com:

Maybe the Cryptpad Whiteboard could be relevant, although certainly Miro is quite a mature and slick App, I can't see any direct FOSS alternatives, it would more likely be a combination of tools to replicate all the features.

Actually, Excalidraw looks really neat!
It doesn't support advanced stuff like Mentions and has only very limited text formatting options, but if it's just about brainstorming some ideas and putting a couple of post-its on a whiteboard, one can get quite far with it. Plus: doesn't need a lengthy introduction as it is super intuitive.
Stack: React, Rough.js, TypeScript, VercelWould love to see this in Cloudron.

Edit2: Also Spacedeck. Suggested already, you can upvote it here.

@jdaviescoates has already caught them all ...wrote on Dec 7, 2020, 3:15 PM last edited by@kuchengrab This looks really nice design. I really like the sketch fidelity.
The functionality is basic, but still very nice.Spacedeck looks nice too, but the low-fidelity of Exaclidraw draws me to it more.
I really need to learn how to make packages for Cloudron so I can get some of these apps packaged.

Yeah, I mean, I don't like the script font and wish there were a few more font and formatting options, but I understand that they probably want to KISS.
True, I also wish I could package something like that, but I just started out with running my own dockers on a VPS.

imho the best alternative that can be found is draw.io it's amazing and there even is a plugin to install in NextCloud in "New Document".
I've used the app for a while and indeed it's amazing, of course it's open source and I've not investigated deeply but there's apparently already a docker image :

@yusf PenPot does look nice doesn't it.
See also Spacedeck (which is included in Nextcloud 21 too as https://apps.nextcloud.com/apps/integration_whiteboard ).
