Penpot - Design Freedom for Teams
-
I just came across this via the announcement about Taiga 6 (it's by the same people).
"Penpot is the first Open Source design and prototyping platform meant for cross-domain teams. Non dependent on operating systems, Penpot is web based and works with open web standards (SVG). For all and empowered by the community."
https://penpot.app/
https://github.com/penpot/penpotThe alpha 1.0.0 release came out yesterday!

Honestly, I'm not a Taiga user, but this one may come in handy ! It does look very nice
-
Free software Figmalike, I'm starstruck.

If you're interested in penpot, then you should probably attend their talk at our Open Source Design (cough shameless plug opensourcedesign.net/ cough) devroom at FOSDEM this weekend.

I reaaaaaaally want to see penpot and presentator on Cloudron.
It would make me very happy, in a world currently full of

Open source Figma!? Can dreams come true?
-
@yusf Yes they can!
The people in Kaleidos are good people. They've really put efforts into Penpot.
They came to our FOSDEM devroom last year explaining how a French company started contributing to penpot (Then called UXBOX) and they got "embarrassed" that someone else was contributing when they weren't!
Here's the talk from last year: https://archive.fosdem.org/2020/schedule/event/uxbox_open_source_online_prototyping_platform/

Oh wow - open-source is coming of age!

-
@diacritica Honestly loving Taiga. Excellent work!

Super helpful too, these guys. I found this on Reddit, poked around on their repository but couldn't find the info for self-hosting, asked about it and just a short while later they replied! https://github.com/penpot/penpot/blob/develop/docs/00-Getting-Started.md
Yes, this does look pretty good. They share tuts here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfT-G7N8lb4&list=PLgcCPfOv5v57cJS0im5FYFwbsu6X5mkNq (they shared the link)

This is on my radar for packaging, though at the moment I'm holding off until the codebase is more stable, unless consensus build that packaging sooner is a good idea
