AppFlowy
-
I've started an attempt to build AppFlowy Cloud for Cloudron. However there is a big blocker which I am investigating.
Appflowy Cloud is tightly tied to GoTrue (Supabase Auth). This is very difficult to package, and blocks admin user creation and login when building outside of a docker compose environment. The problem has been reported as an issue, so the upstream devs are aware, but have stated they currently have no plans to accommodate any approach other than use of GoTrue.
I am investigating resolutions/workarounds, but my honest opinion is that that this could take time, and may not be resolvable. So AppFlowy will not be appearing as a Cloudron for a while, from me anyway.
Just thought all those clamouring for it should be aware this is a non-trivial problem, needing time to address.
@timconsidine is GoTrue packagable or part of the Supabase cloud?
There is always a way to emulate an API and that's likely what this Auth API is..
So depending on what it closely resembles an Auth proxy could be made that remaps all calls to GoTrue to any other Auth source. Cloudron OIDC, NocoDB, etc.

packaging update :
- overcame login issues
- working on subsequent launch gremlins
Thanks for your patience : more time needed
-
packaging update :
- basic functionality working
- further testing needed
Will share package and deployment instructions when proven stable.

Another FOSS Notion alternative. Built with Flutter & Rust.
EDIT: Updated the screenshots

AppFlowy is an amazing app, I've previously hosted it through YunoHost, but now need to run it a bit more profesionally, and would therefore love it if the Cloudron team added official support for it!
I suspect it's the kind of tool a lot of people on here is looking for

@timconsidine does the pricing at https://appflowy.com/pricing mean that it is 10/user/month for selfhosted?

@Joseph I find their docs not 100% clear, but my memory from my checking previously is that there are no charges for self-hosted. Feel free to challenge this understanding.
They put their pricing info right next to self-hosted, so it is not 100% clear at first reading.
I will need to dig out the checks (or do them again) but I proceeded with packaging on the basis that there are no charges for self-hosted.
I parked my packaging of AppFlowy because shinier prettier toys like CustomAppGAteway, Windmill etc were pulling me there. But I plan to finish off AppFlowy and will check this point again.

@timconsidine thanks for updating. On the pricing page, yeah, it says just 1 user allowed. Otherwise, 10/user/month.

@Joseph I'm not yet sold on AppFlowy but started packaging because there was a lot of interest, so the 1 seat restriction may not matter to me or 'solopreneurs'.
But, yep, could be a dampener on adding it officially to the AppStore.

@timconsidine they're charging self hosters just to use the mobile and desktop apps now, even for only a single user.
While its not particularly expensive to buy the license allowing a single user to use the apps, I think its indicative of how they're going about things, which is really abusing the spirit of open source, if not the letter.
A viable "private, affordable, self hostable alternative to Notion" it is not anymore IMO -
