Hi,

I am running SearXNG on Cloudron and ran into a limitation with custom search engines.

My goal is quite small: I only want to add one custom engine .py file for SearXNG.

The issue is that SearXNG expects custom Python engine files to live inside its internal engine directory, but in the Cloudron app setup that location is read-only. I currently only have write access to /app/data, which is fine for config, but not enough for adding a custom engine module.

So at the moment I can adjust settings.yml, but I cannot actually place the corresponding custom engine file where SearXNG can import it.

What I would need is one of these options:

• a way to map or mount a single file from /app/data into the internal SearXNG engines directory
• or any Cloudron-supported mechanism to override one app file without rebuilding the whole app

My use case is not to modify the app broadly. I just want to provide one custom search engine file and keep it persistent across updates.
And I don't want to replace ALL search engines.

Is there some solution/workaround, because currently, I guess it is not possible to extend the app.

@james Hi thx. But how to use the web terminal if it is not starting/responding? At least this is the Problem on my side currently. So I can not execute any commands there…

I used the SAAS Version. And it is quite good and a nice tool!

@shrey yes, not fully Open Source, but the Core is Open Source.
And when I have the correct infos, at least it is possible to bundle with own applications, which is not possible (due to license) in n8n

As there is already a prepared dockerfile/cloudronmanifest etc … can we haz it in cloudron app store @girish?
n8n is not open source and this may be a really good alternative for some people!

I also overlooked it the first time. maybe it is also just activateable after some hours install time…

they have no real repo any more. At least currently. They want to, but have not time jet to do so (at least that is the info I got).

I think they streamlined the versions! there is just separate community edition!
So as there are multiple European laws already here or need to be implemented, I think this software is getting hot again!
Would be great to see it in cloudron!

I also had this problem.
After researching etc, the solution is to set the SSL/TSL to Kustom -> FULL.

can someone ping me to the settingsyou used. afet migrating our MM to cloudron, the calls plugin does not work any more. and it was quite good for 1:1s. we used both modules btw. calls and jitsi for bigger sessions.

@girish I have 2 questions:

1. Ist there any chance, that one can add a new folder to the "local storage addon" (persistence layer)?
   Because currently only /app/data is a thing to use here. This is quite narrow/specific, as other applications maybe need other folders.
2. is it possible to have more than one container for an application? some Apps are build to work with multiple, and there is no chance to move that together upstream.

This tool dame also to my attention and I wanted to suggest it, that a cloudron support would be perfect!

@scooke I think ou should restore to the version from yesterday, to prevent problems and deactivate auto update for now. just in case and follow this thread.
