    Hello,

    I just saw that Ghost, WordPress and Grav are supported, furthermore Kirby 3 being discussed. Thus I thought maybe Statamic 3 would be an idea as well. I have no experience with it but I thought about trying out Grav or Statamic 3 as they are quite similar to Kirby 3 and it might give some nice impressions to learn more like how other similar CMS' work.

  • Caching on App Store page

    Hello,

    I think a low priority improvement would be if the App Store page gets some sort of caching. Right now, it always loads multiple seconds on my system and after that it also loads the icons of the apps in the New apps section for a few seconds. In general the performance of that page isn't great and caching at least the text and logos shouldn't cause a problem as they change very seldom.

    @lukas Nope, there's no monitoring on their side for all hardware topics as far as I know. I remember from other cases that the support had to be contacted by customer and in some cases they requested proofs that something is wrong with the hardware before they check or replace it. Same with network issues on their side: You can't say "It's broken" when it is on their side and then they check it, agree and fix it. You have to send them monitoring logs. That's what I dislike about them. Beside of that, replacing faulty hardware is of course free of charge.

    My recommendations so far:

    • Contabo
    • netcup (although their new extra fee for server location choice is bad)
    • Hetzner

    Contabo is top notch. Never had any issue with their hardware (1 HW replacement in several years) and their support replies within minutes in case of technical issues on their side. Just perfect for a great price. Netcup is fine as well and good support in case of emergencies as well.

    I never used LanguageTool with Cloudron or last 1-2 yrs but when I used it 3-4 years ago regularly it provided excellent results and there was a LibreOffice plug-in so it's not limited to .docx.

  • Domain Setup documentation outdated

    Hello,

    the Domain Setup documentation at https://docs.cloudron.io/installation/#domain-setup is outdated. Some providers are not named and some option was added that isn't self-explaining:

    E. g. Netcup and "No-op (only for development)" are missing. I suspect the later one is usable in case you just try out the tool and don't want to change DNS settings at your domain registrar yet? That would be good because I would like to evaluate it first before I do DNS changes.

  • Memory usage column in Services page is not helpful

    Hello,

    I just noticed that the memory usage column of the Services page is not helpful. You have no information how much % and RAM is taken. Just a green bar with no hover information and no text.

    I think it should show the memory usage in % and in MB/GB as text on the bar.

    I wouldn't be surprised if a WordPress instance caused it. WordPress is a security nightmare and if it's unmaintained, it's even more. Sadly popularity of a software doesn't requires a proper software quality . . .

    I'm curious as well. If Cloudron is deciding about the whole environment it runs on, it must provide proper tools. Furthermore it also needs ways to include security or monitoring tools that are common but not supported officially. Otherwise we have in general some kind of compliance or security issue in general someday.

    I started with 7.4.x and read in the forum that it fixed something that did annoy me during the evaluation of the product so I thought that a upgrade sounds good and I just checked the logs: Looks like it did update itself via cronjob:

    25.06.2023 cron Cloudron updated to version 7.5.0

    (Like others reported.) In general v7.5 looks like a good improvement to v7.4 although some stuff is a bit broken (nothing too critcial).

    I just noticed that the Teamspeak server app and MonicaHQ for example have lines like this:

    This app packages MonicaHQ 4.0.0
    
    This app packages MonicaHQ 3.6.0.
    

    Are these copy and paste errors? My understanding is that an app package can just package 1 version.

    I see what you mean. It somehow fits to the clean UI approach. In my pov I don't think the clean UI approach is a good idea in general because most of the times things lack while I rarely feel that I'm overwhelmed by details or options. We are far away from that for the Cloudron UI.

    Hey @girish. Thanks for your reply. Actually it depends!

    For MySQL: It's a matter of running not into backup import/export stuff or facing data losses because of some DBMS bug. So there I just prefer to having a up2date DBMS because in the past I faced one or two major issues with productive software where patching the systems could have prevented it.

    For apache2: Yes, I think no application really relies on the version nor it's super likely to hit a bug in it. Of course I faced apache2/nginx module bugs in the past but that's quite rare. Nevertheless it would help to have an up2date version at that point as well to prevent cases like that and sometimes security issues are fixed there as well.

    For PHP: Indeed this is the most relevant part for your deployed websites. In the past I just had to care about major PHP releases; minor versions never broke anything for me and had never been a requirement for any software I saw. Of course, security matters here as well.

    Thanks for clarifying which software of LAMP is managed by the platform/OS and which is managed by Cloudron itself. That gave a better insight for me.

    I just tried LibreTranslate and noticed that with only 1 user and slow requests, I still get messages like this:

    According to Google results this is linked to performance bottlenecks. Can this be ignored? It surprises me that there is a bottleneck when the server basically does nothing except serving 1 user with one or two translation requests synchronously.

    Health Checks just died again so looks like a reoccuring issue without any user-related activity.

    Downloading full logs (error "Log file(s) not found") is broken for other apps as well, e. g. NextCloud. So we have 1 app-specific issue and 1 app-unrelated issue (regression).
