@adhodgson no, do not use Cloudron's unbound as the resolver for AdGuard, that is just asking for trouble. unbound is mostly an internal implementation detail from Cloudron point of view. In Cloudron 8, it's role has decreased a lot. In future, we will most likely completely remove it. It's best to use some other resolver on your network.

LDAP uses a custom port and won't be compatible with Cloudflare. Cloudflare only proxies HTTP. OIDC should be compatible with Cloudflare though .

@girish yes it makes total sense, I thought there would be a way like with portainer where it just tells you ip:port but i get this is a bit more complex. I got it to work with @murgero tip and an nginx reverseproxy. Thank you both

It seems there was lingering yarn cache. Removing it cuts the size by half.

@ekevu123 said in Backup settings: which blogs installing and updating other apps, and sometimes I need that A fix for this is coming. Backup had a global lock which is being removed. As for the bigger question, there is no clear answer. Backups take time, it is supposed to be something in the background and taking less resources. Not something actively monitored. Even in AWS and DO where they have complete control of their servers, if you take a snapshot of a 100GB machine, it takes a LONG time - they suggest 1 to 3 minutes per GB . It just the way it is. (240GB is worst case 720 mins or 12 hours where they have complete control of disk and server).

@murgero said in home server not accessible from guest wifi network.. why?: works for in-app ads on phones too. That’s great to know. I’ll give it a try soon. Thanks!

@timconsidine Thanks for the tip, but I'm not confident in my own ability to maintain this kind of manual thing across a range of servers. I spent my Saturday experimenting with various monitoring solutions, and found Netdata to be exactly what I needed. I wrote a guide about it, and I hope you'll find it useful!

Well just gone through the upgrade process on a fresh instance through Hetzner to Ubuntu 24.04: Upgraded to Cloudron 8.0 and took backup to storage box. Downloaded the backup metadata file. Wiped server with ubuntu image from Hetzner and apt failed to do upgrade, moaned about missing files on the mirror. Tried to resolve but I wanted to try out an iso installation from Ubuntu directly rather than using the Hetzner images anyway so gave that a go. Installing from ISO is actually easier than I thought it would be, there was no messing around with the routes as discussed in Hetzner docs. IPV4 works out of the box, I decided to take the netplan config file supplied by Hetzner's imaging process for my server and used that on the fresh Ubuntu install to get IPV6 working. After wiping and reinstalling the new system I changed the SSH port and then ran Cloudron-setup. It installed 8.0 for me as it detected a Ubuntu 24.04 install. In the setup wizard clicked on the restore option and supplied the file. Realised then I didn't have my storage box password so had to change that in the interface. However once changed the restore happened and all my apps were back in around 15 minutes. Nice work guys, and I've always wanted to test the bear-metal restore from backup.

Vaultwarden/Bitwarden actually has a few mechanisms for that. For the second factor you will get a "recovery code" that they ask you to store in a secure location. This is a letter and numbers string that can be used to override all configured second factors. If you have lost your master password, or you're simply no longer around to give it to someone else then Vaultwarden has a feature called "emergency access" where you can designate another user to gain access to your safe after a configurable wait time (so you could still object and prevent misuse). https://bitwarden.com/help/emergency-access/ For me personally I have added my wife as my emergency contact, but since I know that she is not really a technical minded person I also have a backup yubikey at a secure location that has my master password stored as a static key and the above recovery key written down next to it.

I've tried for a while to get a good UK based VPS as I moved away from Bytemark a while ago and haven't found anything as good. I'd love to go with Mythic Beasts but they aren't competitive. I use Hetzner right now but there was doubting voices about them on Mastodon a couple of months back when they failed to stop some abuse, not sure what was exactly going on there.

@Linas said in ClassicPress installation: ClassicPress ir an essential application to me. In which case perhaps add an App Wishlist post for it, but tbh I don't expect it'll get many votes and I'd guess it's unlikely to be prioritised by Cloudron staff unless lots of people are interested.

Stripe support was of no help. After getting moved up the support ladder, the guy said to use the full domain instead of what the input field shows "example.com" or "subdomain.example.com". The Stripe system doesn't let you to use HTTP or HTTPS so I tried www.mydomain.com on profile #1 (I have two Stripe accounts/profiles with the same issue). On profile #2, I deleted the existing domain and re-added it as it was before (mydomain.com). The weird thing is that the records provided by Stripe are identical to my previously used ones. A day later, and both domains passed verification! WTH. I suspect the BunnyDNS resyncing did the trick but took longer to fully propagate despite what online DNS checking tools report back. Maybe it was a Stripe cache issue too. If anyone ever hits this issue, do the following: contact your DNS provider and have them resync your zones delete your custom email domain in Stripe and re-add it. As for the InvoiceNinja issues, my email delivery resumed after fixing the PDF generation issue that CR staff are looking into in another thread.
