For "Asterix" read "Asterisk".

I really like the idea of having self hosted options for comms
-
I also like the idea of FreePBX on Cloudron. But do you have an idea of the complexity of a VoIP system? The abbreviations and the technical language are completely different than in the IT world. To understand dial plans, it takes hours of lifetime.
Really?

I found another version of it that comes bundled with quite a few other items that would be perfect; such as: PrivateDial and WebSMS.
Link: https://hub.docker.com/r/mlan/asterisk
Would it be possible to merge these to up vote one topic @girish?

https://www.freepbx.org/Asterisk is an open source PBX. (A PBX (private branch exchange) is a telephone system within an enterprise that switches calls between enterprise users on local lines while allowing all users to share a certain number of external phone lines.)
FreePBX is a Web interface to manage PBX.
Would be interesting to see if this could be done??
EDIT: Looks like someone has already put it on the wishlist: https://forum.cloudron.io/topic/1133/asterisk-pbx-open-source-voip-ip-pbx-server
+1 this (or some other similar Voip Server)

Cloudron definitely needs to have a PBX app

Our experience of this is that FreePBX is the one to have, and you'd be better off with it on it's own VM, since any kind of enterprise use would likely need support, and they would expect to see a standard server setup.
As much as it sounds nice. I think it's one that doesn't need to be a Cloudron app to get the best experience.

Adding to my above comment. I do still see value in Cloudron being able to act as a hub to manage multiple servers and their updates. I'm sure I posted on that somewhere.
Maybe somehow need to incorporate Cockpit, instead of re-inventing wheels:

What is the latest on supporting Asterisk on Cloudron? One thing it could do is help e.g. people running Jitsi, for example by having a telephone number which people could call on their phone and participate in the conference that way.
Jitsi is being used as a back end too, for e.g. Nextcloud Talk, I believe.
Integrating this library with Jitsi might help that too:
https://sipjs.com/sip2sip is a service which offers similar functionality to Jitsi with calls. (non-Free)

I don't think so.
BTW, I recommended checking out this post by @luckow https://forum.cloudron.io/post/75268
I'm going to try FreePBX like he does on a small dedicated VPS using their custom image. It sounds easy / great!
