notfound.html and appstatus.html are really more backend things . They have to be usable even when Cloudron is down and thus the API cannot be accessed to get the branding information. Of course, one can statically generate them each time branding is changed...

@plusone-nick right, the email just contains a URL for the image and the URL does not change on image change.

Having it upstream fontawesome would be quite an achievement 🙂 But https://github.com/mlwilkerson/fa-custom-icon-demo has a demo on adding custom icons inside a custom app.

@girish No I actually meant instead of storing those files in the box folder, moving them into a standartly installed surfer instance on the same server where one can easily update/modify them etc. without the fear of having them replaced on an update

This is possibly a bug, but in general we don't completely test as to what gets enabled/disabled when subscriptions expire. It's quite rare that people keep their servers around when subscription expires. But I will test things out when we cut a new release.

@mdreira probably a long term solution to embed images is to also embed it inline in the html. You can use a tool like https://base64.guru/converter/encode/image/png
