Funkwhale - A modern, convivial and free music server

@plusone-nick Nice. I have a repo on GitLab for my Ableton stuff if you're interested: http://gitlab.com/ableton
GitLab itself makes a good alternative to splice.com/studio too for collaboration.

@marcusquinn Nice! I use FL but will check it out! & Interesting - I was considering using Git but when I looked into it I didnt see many people doing it with it comes to DAW Project files lol so I opted with SyncThing and that has been very nice thus far. Never have to initiate any backup.
I can see the ease of collaborating/sharing projects with Git - atm I move projects from my desktop or SyncThing to Nectcloud, not a bad workflow =]
Also with the new cloudron file manager its easy to download projects -
There is now an alternative "all in one docker" image for this app
I'm not sure if this https://hub.docker.com/r/funkwhale/all-in-one fits with the cloudron best practice (1 process by container)This is an alternative Docker image you can use to deploy Funkwhale, that does not follow the "one process per container" philosophy. This one contains Postgres, Redis, Nginx and all the needed files and configuration to start a dockerized Funkwhale instance in a single container

Just saw this blog post - https://blog.funkwhale.audio/~/Announcements/funkwhale-is-looking-for-new-maintainers/

@jdaviescoates In fact, I had actually started packaging it last week on the side.
It seems there are some funds available for those interested -https://governance.funkwhale.audio/d/QyEBOaV6/status-of-our-nlnet-funding

Would still be great to have it on here imho.

Yes, of course, that's the plan. I am confident someone will step up It's a great app, has subsonic support, federation, can setup radio station, really nice.

That was a few months ago now, did you make any progress?
Thanks!

The good news is that a new maintainer stepped up and the development has restarted.

Is there anything I can do to help get this packaged, besides fully packaging and testing myself?
Its the ONLY music app that provides legit public access to the assets... Really need this to break independent artists and incentivize them to use plusone/Cloudron
Open to sponsorship as needed
+1

@plusone-nick if you get it started, others can jump in.
-
I wouldn't mind giving it a shot at some point. Really swamped this next little bit so no clue when I can get to it.

Hello,
Just wondered if anyone is working on this as it would be a great addition for music sharing on the fediverse?
-
@avatar1024 agreed!
I love that we've already got Mastodon, Pixelfed and Peertube on here, but I'd really love to have more Fediverse/ ActivityPub apps on here too, like:
Funkwhale - for music
Castopod - for podcasts
Mobilizon - for events
Lemmy - like reddit
Bookwyrm - like Good Reads
Pleroma - similar to Mastodon
Misskey - similar to Mastodon
Pinafore - nice simple alternative front-end for Mastodon, already packaged to some extent by @timconsidine - be nice if @staff could pick that up and get it into the app storeI'd love them ALL, but personally I'm particularly interested in Castopod and Mobilizon, which aside from Pleroma (which has been gathering upvotes for a good few years longer and is in the same use-case space as Mastodon and hence imho of lower priority), are also the most upvoted and desired for by the rest of the community on here too. So obviously many people agree with me
Not surprising really because
I'm always rightwe don't have any podcasting nor events apps on Cloudron yet, fediverse apps nor otherwise. So, here is my plea for everyone to continue to upvote Castopod and Mobilizon and for the good @appdev people to begin packaging them!

Interesting watch on this subject:
