How I can make "Mail FROM Address" persistent?
-
Dear all,
it seems that sometimes "Mail FROM Address" become again "wordpressdeveloper.app@domain.tdl", even If I changed before.
How I can make that address persistent?
I don't know how to reproduce issue.
Thank's a lot

@p44 It should definitely be persistent. I've never had issues with it changing back to the default address. Is it possible you changed it recently, then later had to restore from a backup which had the original address in there? Very odd if it's just changing all on its own.
-
This is probably tied to some clone or restore operation. The setting itself is in the database, so I can't think of why it gets changed.

@girish Girish I'm still having this problem. Do you confirm that Mail From Address should be persistent even if I add some redirection on that instance?

@p44 Does the MAIL FROM address change inside wordpress or in the Cloudron dashboard?
-
@p44 yes it should persist. But good that you mention changing alias/redirection, maybe that gives us a clue what how to reproduce this.
-
@nebulon When I touch something in redirection, eg. adding a new redirection, so MAIL FROM address is changed.
@p44 It is always reproducible on your server? I can't reproduce this at all. Maybe you can write to us at support@cloudron.io and I can take a look. Thanks!

@p44 Is it possible a password manager or other browser extension is auto-filling that field by accident? That's about the only thing I can think of that'd make some sense, lol. Are you able to give some examples of what it's being changed to, do they still sort of make sense in the terms used in the field, or are they kind of random?

@p44 thanks for the recording! I am looking into reproducing it and finding out the root cause.

@girish any ETA to fix this tedious problem? Did you take a look? Thank's
Hey might sound stupid but that happens as stupid as can be but, did you actually pushed the SAVE button once you change this address before going away? I too, cannot see how this can NOT be saved once you've made the change.

@p44 it's in my list for 6.3 to fix. Hoping to get 6.3 out next week.

@girish Perfect, looking forward to 6.3. I desperately need the ability to block messages identified as spam from being forwarded on to external addresses by way of the mailing lists feature. Gmail is constantly rate limiting mail from my server (which isn't a big deal in the scheme of things, better than being outright block listed, lol) because of how much spam goes to one specific address which forwards to their preferred address on Gmail. Would love to get rid of this behaviour by basically just dropping spam messages to external addresses if the new feature is enabled to do so.
On a note more relevant to this topic though... what was the root cause of this very strange behaviour? I'm most curious, haha.
