Cal.com (was Calendso) - Calendly Alternative

Calendso now has CalDAV integration, making imho the best option for a self-hosted calendly alternative
https://github.com/calendso/calendso/discussions/62#discussioncomment-1187345
It'd be great to get this packaged!
-
@jdaviescoates just seen an email that CalDav is now available. You've probably got that also. But others may want to know.
-
@jdaviescoates ha ! beat me to it !
-
@timconsidine ha, same! I came running to see whether cloudron will support this soon
-
@chetbaker yes hopefully one of the @staff or @appdev lot will package this soon!
I know @girish uses Calendly so perhaps he'd be interested in using this great self-hosted tool instead?
-
Oh, just noticed that they've rebranded to Cal.com and released version 1 too, see:
https://cal.com/blog/calendso-rebrands-to-cal-com
-
3 letter domain name! Impressive.
-
@girish When you want to flex that VC.

That's the part I'm least impressed with personally, but maybe that's just because I've got ud.coop
-
@jdaviescoates Is there any way to vote again for cloudron to support this soon?
-
@jdaviescoates
should we not count the total characters in domain and tld ?
So cal.com = 6
ud.coop = 6I got t60.uk = 5.
Anyone got 4 ?
-
+1 On this!

has anyone been able to run calendso using caldav? I've been trying with no success using fastmail
-
@chetbaker yeah, I started playing with the hosted version. It's great! But the CalDAV integration doesn't really work at all

Yeah, it's a pity. I opened a couple of these issues while ago.
-
@chetbaker I think they'll sort it eventually and when they do this ought to be near the top of the list for apps to package.
-
@jdaviescoates big yes to that. I've been eager to make it work

Big Data love to get into Calendar applications. Odoo has a calendar module, but it is geared towards Google Calendar and later supported Microsoft Outlook.
Free Software Calendar projects seem to be very slow off the mark to introduce non-proprietary calendar support. I hope Cal.com manages to support Free formats.
Is there anything much better than Cal.com ?

-
@jdaviescoates there's a promising pull request today https://github.com/calendso/calendso/pull/1300
-
@chetbaker yes, seems they are working through the CalDAV issues!
I tested the hosted Cal.com service earlier and it does now block out availability for times where there are events in my Nextcloud calendar, and creates an event when an appointment is booked.
I didn't seem to receive any email about it though...
But it's getting there! Really looking forward to having this on Cloudron as a great Calendly alternative!

@michaelmm7 +1
-
kind reminder to upvote this!
this will be a killer app for me

-
+1 from my side. Would be absolutely killer to have this!
The calendar handling for a team is currently a bit difficult using OSS -
Is anyone around here testing cal.com locally? I'm kind of desperate to make it work because there are not a lot of alternatives for this around (I've been using Fantastical lately and works good but not really professionally-polished)
Happy to test it out.
-
@chetbaker I've been working on a package but I'm a bit stuck, will revisit it when they make their next release (they changed from biweekly to monthly tags recently). Also, they're massively reorganizing things and adding features, like jitsi integration got added not too long ago, so a lot of changes are happening there.

This would be an awesome addition to Cloudron. I've tried self-hosting Calendso and, for whatever reason, it's a pain. I have n8n running (not through Cloudron as I wanted external db access) and it's no problem. Until then, I'm glad I have my tidycal.com LTD through AppSumo LOL.
-
@timconsidine If you count the visible IDN, I have ε°ε±±.com!

Only, it's not open source nor self-hosted AFAICS, thus you very likely share your calendar with the service owner, technically speaking.
Anyway, since my beginnings on Internet 1998, I'd always wanted to self-host everything I possibly can and thus you can imagine I do NOT trust SaaS, let alone BIG TECH, for nothing in regards to my and my clients' data.
-
@scooke nice !
-
I just spotted this:
https://github.com/calcom/docker -
@jdaviescoates just needs Postgres nice and simple
-
@robi they are working through the CalDAV issues too (although last I tried it was already working well with Nextcloud)
-
1.5 is out, they've releaed an API for enterprise customers and pro users, and raised $25m

Do you have your wip uploaded somewhere? I just rediscovered cal.com and would like to give it a spin. Would have started an app of my own, but its always easier to test and improve.
-
@fbartels not yet, because I think you have to build the thing after adding the environment variables and that's a tricky task on the read-only fs. I did take a look at the Dockerfile, which might make it more convenient, but haven't had time yet to copy and try it out
-
@fbartels I'm about to give up, just checked where cal.com wants to write during the yarn process and there are many many folders. The Dockerfile their community provides is also no help, since the URL needs to be supplied during build, which doesn't work in Cloudrons case. So yea, the current status is pretty useless to improve from
-
@msbt thanks! but my day has been just ruined
-
@chetbaker hopefully @fbartels will give it shot and have more luck!
-
@chetbaker there are people around that can do better when it comes to Docker images, that's just not one of my specialities.
-
+1 for Cal.com/calendso
-
Would really, really love this addition.
-
In case people didn't notice it, there is also this more general thread:
https://forum.cloudron.io/topic/6853/calendar-applications-review -
I'll have to take a look at those alternatives, Cal.com was the first open-source one I found and had up and running to test out and found it pretty awesome and could replace a WordPress plugin. The biggest downside to it that I found was that it's customization is limited. As an example, if I wanted to change the colors, I'd have to create a theme and open source it, etc... kind of a hassle. However, the dark mode was acceptable for my needs and it had webhooks, etc which means integrations are limited to your imagination. Until then, I'm using TidyCal that I bought from AppSumo as a LTD that works pretty well for being what it is.
-
I've been using the hosted version of this and I really like it.
Hoping a Cloudron button will be added here soon
-
I've just created this "It's not yet possible to deploy Cal on Cloudron" issue on their github, chime in!
-
@jdaviescoates / @girish - Thank you!!
-
@jdaviescoates That was a well phrased post. It looks like it is gaining some responses.
-
Definitely excited about this possibility!
-
The latest comment I see is that they don't plan to support Cloudron, but they open to merge it in, if someone will do the job of integrating, unfortunately.
-
@potemkin_ai yeah, hoping they'd package it for us was a bit hopeful, but still worth putting it out there imho
Hopefully someone else will take a look.
-
@msbt
Hi, I would like to take a look at this. I recently built my own N8N instance. And would really like to get cal.com running on cloudron.Could you share more of your work in progress?
-
@roofboard Ohhh... I like your n8n changes! I have a couple questions if you don't mind. I'll send you message.
-
@thetomester13 What is the connection between Calendso and Cal.com? Is Calendso just a community edition / Free Software version of Cal.com?
-
@LoudLemur no, cal.com is the new name for calendso
-
Hello folks, anyone with some news on this? They just released version 2.0
-
Would love to have this as well. Please make it happen
-
@mabaker @chetbaker I am working on this happy to join up and hack together on it. If you wanna hack on this with me just set a time on my calendar and we can work on it. https://short.draglabs.com/cal
-
@roofboard Iβm not a developer, but happy to test out when thereβs any unstable self hosted implementation.
