@girish Brilliant work getting 7.1 out. No chance of the external turnserver in 7.2?

@eganonoa ah yes, I have added it. It's not clear what is possible here but we plan to investigate.

            @girish legend! Thank you!!!

I just left a message in that Nextcloud thread with my thoughts there: just go for one global setting to use or not use an external turnserver. Some apps allow for multiple turnservers (e.g. Nextcloud) but the format of how to add them differs per app (e.g. theoretically you can do it in Matrix but only if they share the same key, as there's only one place to add it). I reckon you will kill yourselves trying to find a per-app solution and really you can help loads of people who rely on external turn in various of your apps (e.g. jitsi, matrix, nextcloud, etherpad, etc) with a global solution. Once you have a working external turn on 443 why bother using anything else?

Also, note that anyone using your greenlight app probably already set up an external turn on 443 using the automated script that the BigBlueButton folks have (see https://github.com/bigbluebutton/bbb-install#install-a-turn-server.) And really you could probably just link to that in the docs to help people get set up with external turn with ease.

@eganonoa yes, agreed. @nebulon probably has more info on this but he was looking into how to setup nginx streaming to turn server. This had the pre-requisite that the turn server be configurable to a separate domain as well.

@robi problem for me is that I not only need 443 but also turn outside of cloudron irrespective because we stick cloudflare in front of all things cloudron. So irrespective adding an external turn has its uses.

@eganonoa if you have advanced cloudflare features, then you can take care of that too.

@robi Business, not enterprise, so no Spectrum for TCP/UDP I'm afraid.

@eganonoa okay, then possibly solved via VPN if all the clients are internal.

LDAP groups would be huge. Been dying for that a couple years now 🙂

@robi That's what we do internally indeed. But we're spreading this out to our community now. So no dice. We must have an external turnserver.

Volume backups option? Avoiding shared between N apps being backed up N times..

@girish can you add that to 7.3 or elsewhere?

Is there a plan for more backup backends like restic / borg for 7.3?

I recall it being listed for 7.2 at some point but looks like it got dropped off the list due to the need for a speedy release.

@avatar1024 work has already started to split the backup code into separate formats, but I don't know if we can add a restic backend for 7.3 as such.

Filenames can be optionally encrypted. Main advantage is that this allows longer filenames with rsync.

As for external app links in Dashboard, it's already implemented. I will let @nebulon post some screenshots.

@fuzzynet A common use case for Cloudron is to host private / internal apps. There is no reason have these exposed to the internet as such. This feature will enable (specific) apps to be accessible only via VPN/Wireguard.

would that wireguard then also be hosted on Cloudron or is that a separate installation?

Both could probably have valid use cases. At work we already have wireguard, so I would want to use an existing, not cloudron based wireguard. For new installations wireguard being part of Cloudron word of course also be nice.

We have added the external app link support now as well. You can think of this as basically some bookmark system to allow putting plain URLs as links into the dashboard to provide organizations a way to use the Cloudron dashboard as a landing page for their users. The link visibility works the same way as for any other app and generally those links look just like apps on the Cloudron.

The UI is currently being finalized but looks mostly like this: 4fdc9aab-7268-4879-8dd0-24c66c54753a-image.png

I even believe that sould answers many requests for something in the like, at least temporarily, it's a start. Thanks for the good ideas and the great work. 🙂

I kind of think that should just be empty where it currently says "running", or otherwise allow it to be customizable text so admins can make it say whatever they want such as "external" or "bookmark" or something like that.

Currently we do not check health of the external url, but I had this in my stash for a release where we maybe focus a bit more on the healthcheck and uptime reporting, but I agree without that the "running" label really makes no sense.

What doesn't make sense to me is the Running text for non-admins though, the text has no utility to a user that expects all things to be running anyway, unless told otherwise, in which case then text can be shown to say whatever else might be happening that isn't running.

We're not here for a long time - but we are here for a good time :)

You’ve just given me a great idea. With the meemo note link, i think this could finally get done. 🎉

You can think of this as basically some bookmark system to allow putting plain URLs as links into the dashboard to provide organizations a way to use the Cloudron dashboard as a landing page for their users. The link visibility works the same way as for any other app and generally those links look just like apps on the Cloudron.

Will there be a warning via email so users know that they're running low on space and what happens if the storage is already over quota? Will there be auto-replies that the mailbox is full?

This may be minor, but may I suggest the changelogs be sorted alphabetically so that we can see related changes easier per function (i.e. mail)?

If we did that, not only would it make it easier for admins to read and parse, but the development team could detect duplicate entries in the changelog easier 😉

Note that there are two duplicate entries such as the following:

This changelog in the repo is really just internal and not meant to be read by end users. I know I posted it on the forum, but was just trying to give a heads up for curious people 🙂

Quick question… the mailbox limit size feature… it’s currently only able to be set on individual mailboxes as opposed to a shared limit domain-wide, right? If true then I’ll file a feature request to make it domain-wide if not already filed, as that’d be excellent. 🙂 Just wanted to make sure I hadn’t overlooked something though first.

I have received the update notification in my Cloudron instances, but it still contains a warning that it is unstable, so I am hesitant on my two production instances.
