I'm the CEO of a machine learning training company. I'm just getting into self hosting (nodebb).

This started with me reading Farnell's 'Digital vegan' and then HN discussing a post I made on geminispace telling how Tiktok recommended me a video of my son... with the interesting twist that neither my son nor me had a Tiktok account.

I'm a ML practitioner (20yrs) in the field so I know how the sausage is made. But this woke me up to work harder on degoogling myself, and potentially stop using a smartphone.

I'll be lurking in this forum before contributing, if you don't mind.

There's a huge community and this could be a stepping stone for cloudron to be more popular.

Thanks, that solved it!

You know how each time you have a new project online, the default is to go get a GAnalytics account, install the JS, and look at it every now and then?

If you are using cloudflare as a Global Content Delivery Network (CDN), it now seems to have analytics built in.

Not as advanced as Google's but more than enough for most projects. It also hosts static sites and it's really fast.

Cloudflare has its detractors, so do your research. But this could simplify one step in your next project.

@luckow Thanks so much. I got postmark to work. I'm happy something works now so I can move to more important topics Email was not in my mind something that could cause this much trouble.

It could be that email is misconfigured (it's gsuite, and it works fine otherwise).

The DNS is cloudflare, and I have nothing installed since I cannot access the appstore.

Wrong password might mean I have not validated the user for the first time, since I don't get emails!

Any idea why this is happening? Thanks!

This is the error we get when trying to get outline.js to send emails (which never arrive). This is in settings > email > outbound.

We thought it was Hetzner blocking ports, but it cannot be, because the email sending is happening not from our IP but from google's right?

That's amazingly detailed. It shows you are a pro with servers. And that you really care about keeping things running. Which is not something I am or want to be. I'm a businessman nowadays and while I love to solve tech problems every now and then, it's not a good use of my time. I really believe selfhosting is a better way to deal with technology (and it foments freedom from bigTech), but the price of admission is too high at the moment for me.

@BrutalBirdie Thanks, very usesul. The more I get to use cloudron, the more I like it.

I haven't found anything that would do well as a wiki from the options that we have; it's kinda surprising that the best FOSS can offer is no match to commercial offerings.
