Sequencing matters!
Turns out the disk got full with docker images related to jupiter hub notebooks.
@girish After testing out the VirtualGroup plugin, it looks like so far this could be an alternate solution to the issue we are having.
For those that are running across the problem, try the searching for virtualgroup Plugin in your Extension Manager and see if that solves it.

@girish I followed the example provided at https://docs.cloudron.io/volumes/#sharing and did a 'touch ./test-file'
From what I can see, the directory does appear to have write permissions.

ah! yes glad you solved this. We should probably mention that in the docs as well then.
