@Peter-Newman said in Update to Nextcloud 28 issues:

with all users files not being visible in the UI.

    I had this issue.
I was able to run a command to reindex the files with a OCC and then the files became visible again.

@girish Thank you. Well noted. I will re-instal it then.

PS: In my opinion, it would be worth highlighting this point on the installation screen of the application, as it is a fairly definitive choice.

@necrevistonnezr I am just curious how you would go about attaching a static webpage to Nextcloud. Do you think there is a way to have the Nextcloud display one as a landing page instead of the login page?

The current package should setup LDAP correctly by default to use groups from Cloudron within nextcloud. This thread is a bit outdated.

@Stardenver the package automatically configured talk+turn on restart and app updates. To disable this, disable TURN for the app - https://docs.cloudron.io/apps/#turn

    Thank you very much

@girish said in All previous folders and files have disappeared after migrating Nextcloud to a different Cloudron server:

Alternately, you have to wait for us to investigate if the situation has changed wrt migrating users from uid based installations .

Out of interest (because it came up again here did you ever get around to investigating this?

And re "uid based installations" - is that some legacy thing? i.e. are there non-"uid based installations" - and were you referring to installations of Nextcloud or installations of Cloudron? 🙂

I'm thinking/ hoping that perhaps you meant uid installations of Nextcloud and that was a legacy thing and now they aren't like that and perhaps Nextcloud is portable from one Cloudron server to another? But I'm not at all clear 🙂

@nebulon thank you for this! I had this same issue for months and your fix seems to work. Something must have changed with NC28 as other (non cloudron) users have experienced and reported this in NC github. In fact I hadn't even thought of reporting it here as I thought it was not cloudron related. I wonders if what you did to the NC cloudron package could be helpful to others...?

@Stardenver said in Best practise for Nextcloud setup (NVMe) with additional HDD drives:

What is the best way to gain maximum storage from SSD and HDD in Nextcloud, but still avoiding the problems I mentioned?

Is the problem that nextcloud is taking too much space? You said the 200GB disk is filling up. What is the size of your files ?

Upgrading to 9.1.2 has fixed it for me (although it sounds like that hasn't worked for some others - I'd guess possibly people who'd fiddled around more than I trying to get it to work again before 🤷 )

Edit: also, on my other instance of Nextcloud where I hadn't updated it is now possible to update directly to 9.1.2

@AartJansen that seems quite a common approach 🙂 for some reason I can't get on with SOGo myself and prefer SnappyMail 🙂

I also make use of Nextcloud Talk for video meetings and find that works pretty well (and it's nice having integration with the rest of Nextcloud, so you can e.g. open and work on a doc together, etc).

  • Nextcloud and local filesystem as Volumes

@girish This worked. What I didn't understand was that /media/name_of_volume was a hard and fast location. The documentation had this line, As a security measure, only host paths under /mnt, /media, /srv and /opt are allowed. which I took to mean that if I used any of those four + the volume name, that that was the location for the Configuration option in Nextcloud. So presumably I could still make any Volume using any of those four, but in Nextcloud the Configuration will always be /media/name_of_volume? Even though it is "now" clearly obvious in the Cloudron Nextcloud dashboard, that Apps can access mounted volumes via /media/{volume name} directory. This data is not included in the app's backup. I thought that the "/media" directory was there as an example, and that any of those four might be used, depending on how the Volume was added. But no, right there, clear as day, it says to use /media.

For someone like myself that just isn't clear and obvious. In this screenshot of adding a Volume, would it be helpful to add a line like, "These filesystem Volumes will then be accessible only at /media/name_of_volume." ? Or are there too many variables; other apps would need this specificity?

Or perhaps in the image shared above: Use the directory /media/{volume name}, regardless of its host path, as the path for Apps that will access mounted volumes. This data is not included in the app's backup.

I don't know.... now that I understand /media is how Cloudron manages Volumes, at least filesystem Volumes, it kind of makes sense. Thank you everyone for pitching in. The Volume did load and I can see the contents. Phew.

My use-case is different from yours as I'm looking for control/privacy, so my homeserver has two free apps, Nextcloud & Vaultwarden. My VW has low resource usage despite the higher than default iterations setting which makes it perfect fit w/ my NC app.

@girish said in Migrating Nextcloud to a different Cloudron has resulted in all the Nextcloud user's usernames having _xxxx appended at the end:

as long as the new Cloudron and old Cloudron use the same usernames.

I think this is probably the issue. I think I imported the backup before importing all the users! I've now imported all the users, uninstalled the broken install, and am currently re-importing the backup again...

Just to add more info here, I can't fully remember the details, but I'm pretty sure that didn't help as in the end I gave up trying to get this to work.

I'm pretty sure I tried it again the other way around (creating users with the exact same usernames and in the exact same groups etc) and hit exactly the same issue.
