After having some devices which can work in a home automation way, I started to look into openhab over the weekend.

I took some inspiration from @vladimir-d 's initial package and got the app in a mostly working state now at https://git.cloudron.io/cloudron/openhab-app

Do we have any openhab users here, who could maybe raise their requirements so we can see how to get those into the package?

The best way to install "developer" apps is to just create a Dockerfile, add whatever packages you want and install it in Cloudron. Tutorial here - https://docs.cloudron.io/packaging/tutorial/ . It's really easy if you know Docker and also it keeps things portable should you move out of Cloudron or any PaaS for that matter.

@girish After thinking about this a bit more, it seems the optimal solution for "developer apps" isn't a published app, but some git repos of a few starter custom apps (dockerfile + ldap login + config instructions for a database if needed) specifically.

I know all the published cloudron app repos can be viewed (as linked in the packaging tutorial). Perhaps that is sufficient.

I'm building what is effectively a cloudron mashup (tying multiple apps together, LDAP, + private dns so API calls are local).

I'll provide further feedback if the current tutorial materials seem insufficient.

@wirkaholic Nextcloud 25 is actually decent for speed and convenience. I like to use a solid colour instead of a background image, and the Unrounded add-on to make it more grown-up looking. Fast desktop & mobile apps. WebDav. Optional encryption. Talk is a great app, and the files uploaded there are shared in your Files.

Internxt looks great too, very slick design and ethical aims, so certainly a worth alternative. 👏

This is a great app. It allows secure network to be made between devices easily. I can host a NextCloud instance at home and access it effortlessly from anywhere using Zerotier.

The Controller can be insalled on a Cloudron instance on VPS.

Now there is a Firefox View that can send tabs to other devices and recover tabs from history, etc.
