SeaTable - Speadsheet meets database

It's sad it's not fully open source but it's still self-hostable, no?
I believe so, yes.
@yusf said in SeaTable - Speadsheet meets database:
Also, how would I be able to "collaborate with your customers" if there's no collaborative features?
I think you can have those features, they are just proprietary.
So I guess it would still be nice to have this on Cloudron.
-
This is something I've personally been looking for forever! So, great find. Given the proprietary bits, we likely CAN package it as CE and then one would need to just 'upgrade' it per their terms. CR does this with another package (Confluence maybe?) already.
The compose file looks like we could take it apart for CR based use decently, but we'd really need the original Dockerfile files to really do it. Those don't appear to be published anywhere accessible. If you find them, I'd be happy to take a closer look at packaging it for you.
The alternative looks VERY promising, but they are brand new (baserow) and haven't published a repo yet.
-
I was about to make a new post on this but i suppose a response here is okay for now: https://baserow.io/blog/open-source-release-of-baserow
They have a road map through Nov on their site too: https://baserow.io/
looks like a +1
-
@plusone-nick Nice! Looks like a different app though, so would need it's own post for it's own votes.
-
@marcusquinn Made a dedicated thread
-
I've just found this thread and the Baserow thread.
I've spent about 10 minutes with both and seatable was much easier to get started with.
I'd considered using airtable recently on a project but we had to stop as it didn't meet privacy requirements. Crazy shenanigans like not being able to guarantee the privacy of the data generated.
-
Hi @plusone-nick hmm, I'm afraid I'm not able to give too much detail - not that I wouldn't like to - the details of the discussion were handled by a lawyer and she was not impressed by Airtable's use of cookies, and their handling of user's data.
In our case we were creating a campaign website with thousands of email addresses and names. They weren't able to guarantee it - which was all explained (helpfully!) in their privacy policy.
-
Seems to be standard MySQL data-store or am I missing something?

Is this anything to go off?
-
@philipp-braun generous limit for their free plan in their cloud !
-
@timconsidine I think @Philipp-Braun is part of SeaTable team.
-
@philipp-braun checked out the cloud version : very nice !
-
@timconsidine Hey Tim. It is important to us that users can already intensively get to know SeaTable in the free version.

I notice that SeaTable is now available in the Linode Marketplace.
https://www.linode.com/marketplace/apps/seatable/seatable/Guides - Deploy SeaTable through the Linode Marketplace
Published Monday, June 26, 2023, by Linode
https://www.linode.com/docs/products/tools/marketplace/guides/seatable/I discovered SeaTable 3+ years ago and used their hosted version extensively for some things. It did the job. For a few years I paid for the Plus version (7€) to get the advanced sharing permissions.
I never felt like I was in control of my data and wanted to have this on domain I own, so later discovered NocoDB and Baserow and saw those come onto Cloudron. Now I seem to have things spread out over all 3, but would like to focus on one; Ideally one that I can figure out how to embed in other documents.
I won't be going the Linode route. Cloudron does so much more...
Not sure if this means anything for Cloudron. Has @Philipp-Braun stopped by recently? -

SeaTable is a new application that combines spreadsheet with database. It allows you to manage many kinds of information as easily as a spreadsheet, while being as powerful as a dedicated information management application. With APIs and SDKs, you may quickly adapt SeaTable to your use cases, automate data processing and business processes.
Cloudron already supports NoCoDB, which is Free Software and billed as a SeaTable alternative:
