I assumed it was completely statically served but maybe not?

the repository is marked as a "work in progress" and there has been no formal release as of yet. I think these two facts make it hard to really consider this for an app.

It seems to bring some form of binary daemon. Given that this is named like the project makes it not seem like it can be served by any webserver.

@fbartels it has a dockerfile so maybe deployable on Cloudron ?

Even if not a complex app, cloudron is my go-to production platform, so I could see value in having it in Cloudron.

Is there still not a reason for this and similar projects like Invidious (YouTube) and Bibliogram (Instagram) and Libreddit (Reddit) to be on Cloudron?

I think being able to provide frontends like these are important.

@ericdrgn no reason really, just lack of time/priority to package them. If you can get an initial package going, happy to get things moving forward.

@girish I'll give it a shot, anytime I've tried packaging things before I always meet failure haha. We'll see if this one is easier maybe.

@ericdrgn Hi, thanks for looking at this. Any news on progress?

Nitter is becoming much more widely used, alongside similar applications which provide frontends for other websites e.g.

                  invidio.us for Youtube
                  teddit.net for Reddit

The Privacy Redirect browser extension is perhaps popularizing these great alternatives.

With the recent success of support for Teddit, I want to bump this Request for Nitter again.

Nitter is an alternative frontend for Twitter. It tries to offer the same level of privacy on Twitter that Teddit does for Reddit.

There is also a request for another Twitter related tool, Feeter, which helps you post:

Nitter, Teddit and other applications are part of a suite offered by Privacy Redirect:

While public access instances are declining to zero due to changes at Twitter, there is still a way to run a private instance. This would be useful for Cloudron as a one click solution if the greater Nitter community was made aware.

This how to deploy a personal instance: https://github.com/sekai-soft/guide-nitter-self-hosting
