AVX Support in your VPS/Server

Is it still secure to use v7.5.2?
It should work fine for the coming months. But I wouldn't recommend this as a long term solution. Currently, all app updates are still available to 7.5 .

Bye the way I moved from my Netcup to Unesty and their servers have AVX.

Unesty
Had never heard of them, but seems their German servers are 100% green energy like Netcup and Hetzner etc and so seems I should add them to my list of such providers over at https://ud.coop/ecovps
Although seems odd that most of their VPS options are sold out

They appear to be a very small company that limits their offerings to the number of users they can support. After the big Christmas sale, they marked most of the offers as sold out in order to be able to serve all new customers.
@robi it is shared vCPU though but a big upgrade from SATA SSD's and even the network seems faster. My external backup takes half the time now (around 1h).

well of course my host does not support avx. So, does this mean I will have to move to another provider, since I have to pay for this host until August this year?
-
In the long run its probably recommended, since mongodb does require this. We have plans to make that optional, but that of course means that you wont be able to use apps which rely on that database.
I would first try to contact your server provider though and ask for the reason that its not supported, maybe its just a disabled flag on their side, which could be enabled.

I was testing a non-AVX setup again.
I got a VPS 200 from netcup. The cheapest possible and this has AVX already.

Any netcup RS server will have AVX.

Weird, I've just asked Netcup again and they said their VPS do not have AVX, only RS (sounds like they want to push you to buy a RS). I've referenced your post, let's see what they say...

Just got their response:
"Normally, AVX is not activated on the VPS. I don't know why this was or is the case. If this is the case, you are lucky with the server."
Sounds odd to me...

@avatar1024 I can try this again, I sure hope I wasn't imagining!
-
@avatar1024 yeah, I was not tripping. I ordered a new
VPS 200 G10s
Curiously, in the order sheet, it still says "Root server". Is this the mistake I am making? Is there another page to get some non-avx server?

Nah that is the correct and only page for VPS. I think someone in their team is tripping and mixing shit up with the orders . I wonder, should we tell or not tell them ๐คซ

I have some netcup VPS servers. A few weeks ago there was a message in the control panel that the KVM version had been updated and that I should switch off and start the servers again, which I did. When I look at the servers now, they all support avx, even the oldest and smallest ones. I hope this is intended
