just some minor pain points that were fixable
What should we fix ?I had a couple of struggles that for example were connected to how Contabo operates. For example I installed the wrong version of cloudron, then cancelled the process, than I had to reinstall the whole Ubuntu and then I had trouble to reconnect to the server due to some ssh key or such. So it's not related to cloudron. There is one thing I suggest that's worth fixing on cloudron side, though:
I restored cloudron with a config file. That went all in all pretty smooth. The form that showed up after uploading the config file did miss one information. Google Buckets require some sort of json key. But the form did not show in red what was missing. So I suggest to have a negative validation (e.g. in red) for missing elements. At that moment I did not even know that such json key exists because it's a while ago that I connected a google cloud bucket to cloudron.

I´ll send an email to netcup customer support, maybe they can be convinced to add AVX support if enough of us are complaining.
FYI: I didn’t get a reply from netcup for 3 weeks now. No reply as in no response aside from the usual ‘we have received your message’.
I think this is quite worrisome. -

I talked to the SysOps Team of hosting.de and they are working on a solution for the Cloud Server for AWX.
Could take 2-4 Weeks. In the meantime, they have solved this issue

to a Contabo VPS
Did you benchmark it? From my experience, Contabo has good prices but terrible performance compared to Netcup. I had lots of customers migrating from Contabo to Hetzner/Netcup over the years.
Currently looking for 4-5 small servers to replace Netcups VPS 500 and VPS 1000 for some customers. Next best option seems to be Netcup RS 1000 G9.5. Any other ideas? Looking for servers located in the EU, under 10€/month with comparable ressources and features.

No referrals but this site is something to monitor: https://www.netcup-sonderangebote.de/

Yes I did some benchmarks and discussed that here: https://forum.cloudron.io/post/75580

@jdaviescoates As far as I know, you can compile new versions of Mongo DB without AVX support

Unesty
Had never heard of them, but seems their German servers are 100% green energy like Netcup and Hetzner etc and so seems I should add them to my list of such providers over at https://ud.coop/ecovps
Although seems odd that most of their VPS options are sold out

They appear to be a very small company that limits their offerings to the number of users they can support. After the big Christmas sale, they marked most of the offers as sold out in order to be able to serve all new customers.
@robi it is shared vCPU though but a big upgrade from SATA SSD's and even the network seems faster. My external backup takes half the time now (around 1h).

well of course my host does not support avx. So, does this mean I will have to move to another provider, since I have to pay for this host until August this year?
-
In the long run its probably recommended, since mongodb does require this. We have plans to make that optional, but that of course means that you wont be able to use apps which rely on that database.
I would first try to contact your server provider though and ask for the reason that its not supported, maybe its just a disabled flag on their side, which could be enabled.

I was testing a non-AVX setup again.
I got a VPS 200 from netcup. The cheapest possible and this has AVX already.
