you're talking about accessing the Cloudron through entering the IP (192.168.x.y) in the browser?

It's clear that this wouldn't work and this is not what I'm doing, it's a little more complicated:

the PC I'm accessing from, is in the same network segment than the cloudron (192.168.x.z). OpenVPN is active, the OpenVPN service is on a second cloudron outside in the internet still, when entering the URL (https://my.domain.*), the fritzbox page shows as soon as I connect the PC to a different network segment (192.168.y.z) everything works!

I don't understand why. Shouldn't the use of external VPN service make the internal source IP invisible?

@jayonrails SSH and SAMBA access haven’t been enabled yet, therefore it didn’t worked. After enabling it, everything works perfectly.

@1Psychedelic instead of adding it manually, use https://docs.cloudron.io/apps/#app-proxy . This will prevent it getting overwritten during updates .

Oh that's pretty cool! I haven't come across a hosted (and apparently free?) mail migration tool. Wouldn't trust any old service for that, but OVH is a reputable company. Very neat. I'll keep that in mind for possible future migrations.

Another tool you might like that is hosted by German hosting provider Netcup GmbH is the https://mailsync.netcup.net/ website. It is both available in German and English language.

@Stardenver Well I had a customers server that he wanted the mail limit upped from 40Mb to 60Mb... and I thought I had done that, but couldn't send a big enough email to test.
I have no idea why they 'need' it, its usually some self-employed boss who doesn't know better, or can't be told.
I make the changes they ask for, and charge for my time.

This should be fixed in 7.3.6

@rossmaclean Currently, there is a limitation that "auth" stuff (including LDAP integration) cannot be turned on and off dynamically. It is chosen at install time. Since the app didn't have proxyAuth initially, it cannot be turned on later with an update.

Will put a note in the docs.

@matthijs that's not possible because HTML/Javascript is opaque "data" and one cannot replace things without understanding what the data is.

For example, the HTML could say "Your IP is NOT xxxxx" or "Your friend is at IP yyyy" or just about anything else. There is no way to reliably replace HTML (other than the app itself).

Can you post a screenshot of this? Are you referring to the Volumes view i.e the view where you add/remove volumes ? FWIW, what you said in Expected behaviour section is what is supposed to happen. I checked quickly and it does happen that way but not clear what you mean by Volumes section still present.

There is at https://api.cloudron.io/api/v1/apps however use this with care otherwise we have to further rate-limit the queries, also this is not a stable API as we change it as we see fit for Cloudron versions, and also we currently have no documentation for that.

@jdaviescoates totally confusing for sure. Not cloudron's fault completely as TLS is just an update to SSL. The problem comes from old software I think where SSL (the verb) is still being used where TLS should be. Both are technically the same, one is just newer.

Or at least that is what google would suggest lol. Either way, you can never have too many docs so an update to specifically call this out when working with SMTP ports would be useful.

If you click on the app icon, it will show you the error as to why it's not uninstalling.

In part just so everything in one place and so I just have to manage, maintain, update etc one server instead of several servers.

But also because e.g.

I've got an instance of PeerTube on one of the smaller VPSs (it's bridport.tv so makes sense to have it on my.bridport.coop where I've got all the Bridport stuff), but I've realised that it really needs a lot more power than that server has.

I'd also like to give access to some of the apps of got on my.uniteddiversity.coop to all the people on my.bridport.coop - at present this would mean them creating another account and then not having the same credentials for both (although to be fair most of the apps currently on my.bridport.coop aren't LDAP enabled anyway, either because they don't have it - like Discourse - or because it doesn't really suit the use case - public instances of PeerTube, Mastodon, Pixelfed).

I think quite a few of the apps would likely benefit for the increased power the dedicated server would have.

The issues you've highlighted wouldn't be that big an issue for me because I think I'm currently the only person/ name who is on all of them so there aren't two Jane Does (but there would be if I started saying "sign-up over on my.uniteddiversity.coop so I can give you access to our shared x too".

The biggest issue would be getting the handful of people actively using some of the other Cloudrons over onto the One Big Cloudron, but currently the numbers of people I'm talking about would be manageable (but this gets harder as more people start joining the other secondary Cloudrons).

While there are no mastodon specific notes on importing, there is one guide at https://docs.cloudron.io/guides/import-postgresql/ for importing postgres apps (which mastodon uses).

For exporting, one can make a backup of the app and will have the db dump part of the backup together with all other data.
