@girish I think all these % numbers are a bit misleading and opinionated - but as you rightly detail it's a case of looking at the appropriateness of each item and reasonability. It's impossible to know or remember everything but still a nice too for a quick review to see if there's any easy wins, and I suppose the scoring mechanism could be handy marketing for some once a certain level is considered reasonably hardened.

Warning for Backblaze region selection! Especially if EU GDPR laws or just US privacy is a concern. If (like me) you have an account that's been open since before they added the EU-Central (Amsterdam) region - there's no way to set any other region than the one you selected (defaulted) when creating your account. The only way to have a different region with Backblaze is with separate accounts. Wasabi is my other alternative and costs less if you have a lot of ingress or are in the hundreds of Gigabytes bracket, and want region-selection in one account, but Backblaze is the cheapest and trusted option I know up to say half a terabyte. No harm in having an account with both though if you like having options. I like to keep backup object storage away from the main host, although if you were backing up hourly or something else bandwidth heavy then same provider attached storage is pretty safe and usually held in triplicate across hardware.

@girish Sure, agreed - and somewhat from experience I've found the costs/benefits of high-availability can almost all be achieved with a solid backup/permissions/restore strategy - for which you already cover really well so links just for reference on low-cost managed K8S hosting really. Rancher 2 is the closest alternative I know of but even that is complicated enough.

@marcuswquinn PHP uses bcrypt by default. It's not a hostable app for Cloudron, but some apps do use it.

@nebulon Thanks for your reply. After thinking about it, the graph chosen is better to view memory usage (which fluctuate much more than disk). I would then suggest separating both information: keep the current graph for the app usage (the Y axis adapting to the app using the most memory) add a bar for total memory used, modelled on the total disk usage (could be a single colour for memory usage) [image: PI8ftjd.png] This would help maximize the amount of information you can visualize in one go and help detect spikes better.

Creating tutorials and how-tos has been on my todolist for month, but since I've never done any, the quality would probably be not great. Any tips and pointers would be much appreciated. I would have done some screencasts in german for my target audience, but globally available, professional videos would be even better. The usecases I wanted to present were along the lines of how to setup contact/calsync with outlook/thunderbird, nextcloud and android/ios gitlab or wekan & rocket.chat (webhooks) lamp app with random php application (e.g. joomla) build your own app (what @fbartels has planned) and the most important of all: a 1-2 min introduction video to cloudron, from installing to a quick overview of the user management to installing apps, but things are changing so rapidly, that would be outdated real fast

@Thulani I have Moodle installed in the LAMP app; it looks like something like OrangeHRM, and even Sentrifugo, is also installable via the LAMP app. I'll give them a whirl and see if they are. (some time later...) Ok, both Sentrifugo and OrangeHRM installed fine; there was a bit of a trial and error setting up email correctly with Sentrifugo but it worked out. Sentrifugo is running well now on the LAMP app with just 256MB ram; OrangeHRm keeps giving me weird SQL errors when adding (but failing) new employees (SQLSTATE[22007]: Invalid datetime format: 1292 Incorrect datetime value: '2020-06-13 09:53:34pm' for column 'created_date' at row 1) and other error messages.

@girish I just wanted to add another reason why we need better spam control exposed to admins... I just had a client who had their home IP address blacklisted by Spamhaus in their PBL because of the range of IP it was found in, even though they were not spamming at all (since the PBL blocks IP ranges). I have asked for it to be delisted but it'd be awesome if in the future I could just whitelist the IP address or something like that to quickly resolve it for them. Update: Just found https://cloudron.io/documentation/email/#blacklist-domains-and-ips which is for blacklisting but I extrapolated from that and found the related whitelist files too, so used that. This needs to be added to the docs. I will see if I can submit that change in the git for you guys. With that said though, it'd still be nice to see this exposed in the UI so if an admin is on the road / unable to SSH to the server, it can be easily whitelisted still.

@YurkshireLad We don't use an external LDAP server ourselves but our customers use Active Directory or Okta often. OpenLDAP should work well with Cloudron's integration though.

And you can follow this doc to restore an uninstalled app from the backup - https://cloudron.io/documentation/backups/#import-app-backup . You have to make sure the app backup is still around though since it will get cleaned up by the backup retention policy.

@YurkshireLad said in Best way to redirect users from root domain to non-Cloudron sub-domain?: I have a non-Cloudron site installed at social.mydomain.com. Sorry, that part of my post may have been confusing or ambiguous. Personally I simply go directly at your DNS manager (Namecheap, Cloudflare, GoDaddy, ...) than add the entry manually, such as you would do without Cloudron. It also confused me a few weeks ago but at the end Cloudron only add and manage entries it need such as: A for my. MX for mail (if you active them and decide to receive email) TTX for DMARC, DKIM and SPF in your case you will have to add something like Entry Type: A Name: @ Content: TheIPofYour "social.mydomain.com" TTL: Auto since we are all graphic bug, here a sample of my zone at Cloudron the one in red are the one I added manually.
